Thoughts for the day…

1. Greetings and salutations, people.  Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  Let’s move.
2. Daily blog template is still being built very, very slowly…just not much daily bandwidth.
3. My Twitter guy put out a question of best college basketball names this year.  I answered with the below, but my brief search actually turned up that there are TWO players named “Jock” on St. Mary’s????  That is just weird.  I also found out that Unique McClean wasn’t even the only Unique named kid in his own neighborhood.  Anyway, here was MY answer.  
4. As far as I am concerned, Eric Berry, after his heroic comeback overall, can wait out a contract from someone and doesn’t deserve the franchise tag.
5. Hibbert, Hawes, Plumlee.  Yup.  BIG time blockbuster trade today.  Monster.  Shift of power in the East.  Watch out, Cavs.
6. Did I really just see a commercial FOR a commercial on Super Bowl Sunday???  Wow, Snickers.
7. Oh my God.  Did you read about Poutasi Poutasi???  That is not a joke.  That is his real name.  He signs a letter of intent for Cal and then finds out his mother died.  That is just horrible.  Tough competition to find any day of anyone’s with such extreme emotional swings.
8. Good time to exit and I sure as hell will watch him analyze things.  Steve Smith will always be known as one of the toughest wide receivers ever.  He signed with the NFL Network this week.  Happy trails, man.  You were a stud.

10. Coach K is back on the bench again.  I am sure he likes getting back in the action with his team in the 20’s of the rankings.
11. I don’t talk much women’s basketball aside from the story about me playing the Burge twins and Dawn Staley back in the day on the court.  Elena Delle Donne is different though.  She was traded today, but here is what I wanted to share.  Read her story.  She was HEAVILY recruited, but stayed at the University of Delaware (across the river from my hometown) to take care of family.  Great story.  She is a badass.
12. Forgot to tell you who Donovan Winter was last night.  He was the recruit who didn’t sign his letter of intent and got kicked out of school…because he was jail.  Ironic.  You get a dream shot at Michigan State and are on your way to the NFL and you get thrown in jail before it happens.
13. I have never messed anything up major by doing something stupid.

15. Watching early Family Guy episodes is definitely watching raw form brilliance.  Weird and different with a hint of cleverness, but definitely raw.
16. Lindsey is buying Split tickets for Saturday AFTERNOON.  The matinee tickets are $15.34.  That is freaking ridiculous.
17. Patriots Day is already down to one showing out here?  Must not be all that and a bag of chips.
18. Sometimes my new Google Doc blog list system auto-corrects and it is frustrating because I am not sure exactly what I meant on an item.
19. Deep thoughts.  If someone plays cards with Art Briles, when they count the cards, are their jokes at the table, or do they just count silently?
20. Does anyone know more about the Cavs tryouts?  Is Lance Stephenson actually going to be PAIRED with JR Smith????  That would be…crazy explosive.
21. Did we ever get an explanation about Aubrey Solomon or are we just going to make jokes next football season?
22. If Tiger doesn’t make the cut this weekend, can we put a moratorium (term borrowed from Mr. Rome) on updating us on everything with Tiger?  Maybe just assume he is doing bad UNTIL he does well?  Just thinking out loud…
23. Pat McAfee retired from punting to be a sports blogger.  I think I had a few jokes about this in the afternoon, but they escape me presently.  Sorry.  Shouldn’t have brought it up.  Moving on.
24.  The Pats got a trademark for 19-0 this week.  Congrats.  Right in time before the Super Bowl.  Aside from some helmet catch I think, it is pretty awesome they locked up that term.  Forever yours, guys.  Rock on.
