Catch Of The Day

Delayed.

Thoughts for the day…

  1. Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  Let’s move.
  2. I WAS going to make this an airplane cast. But, a couple things came to mind.    I am A-58.  That is not a lock for exit row (but a pretty good shot).  Two.  My flight has already been delayed twice.  Delays make me tired.  Might take a nap.  Three.  And the big one.  I am on a plane DURING Duke-UNC.  Bad timing.  I will be watching that if plane has wifi.  So, let’s do some work right now.  I already wrote some last night, so this is just an addition.
  3. And flight delayed more I just found out…so let’s rock.  You get this edition PRE flight.
  4. The Falcons FIRED/ DEMOTED their DC????   Because their offense giving the ball away and making the defense play most of the second half had NOTHING to do with HOW the defense played.  Come on.
  5. I am kind of surprised this David Beckham story isn’t a bigger deal? Maybe it is because I am in Cali still and no one cares about much.
  6. I am glad we heard of no player deaths after South Carolina dropped that home game to Bama in THREE OT’s. Frank Martin must have exhausted himself during the game or be getting a little old.  Scary dude.
  7. I think Duke reminds us tonight at home that they ARE really talented against UNC and ARE a title threat.
  8. This crew of UK freshman is different than past years. The focus doesn’t seem to be there.  They are just as talented, but don’t think they are winning six straight games in March.  Their attitude lends us to believe they are just killing time before the NBA.
  9. I can’t keep track of this Phil-Melo-Love-James saga. I need a flow chart to truly do this right.  Anyway, let’s just end this drama.  Trade Melo to someone else in the East that would make the Eastern Conference playoffs FUN.  I say shuttle him to the Celtics or Wizards.  Both cases are doable also.  Then, we can hear LeBron complain how the Cavs need to countermove and get more star power.
  10. I forgot in Cali some of their RV parks have all palm trees. Feels weird.  Looks weird.
  11. Alamo was oddly low on cheap cars in the lot, so my cheap car rental turned into the choice of a Ford Expedition or convertible Mustang. I chose the souped up Ford.  Why?  Because as an ex-Mustang owner, I didn’t feel the need as much and didn’t want to be a highway police magnet for two full days.  The Expedition was sweet.  Too bulky for me personally, but a pretty sweet drive.
  12. And nothing is better than my 2005 4Runner anyway…
  13. So…Sark oddly coaches one game at Bama and then bolts at the first bright light he sees? Saban apparently can’t get along with OC’s.  Chip Kelly next I assume?
  14. By the way, I am also surprised the Falcons didn’t dig a little more before taking on Sark. The dude IS kind of like a wildcard.  Ask him over drinks…
  15. I feel like that fact that I only ate at In-n-Out twice in three days was actually polite on my body. Came SO close to doing it again today but backed off.
  16. Maybe it is because they just need Aaron Rodgers. Maybe it is because of his injury problem.  Maybe it is concussions.  My guess is the Pack just were really excited to wipe $2 million plus off their books by cutting Mr. Starks.
  17. Not only was that Anthony Rizzo story cool with the 12 year old, but I bet you Rizzo probably did some OFF the record snooping also and found those bullies personally. Rizzo contacted a kid who was beaten up and sent to hospital.
  18. Even IF Michigan basketball is on the rise. Even IF they were at home.  I STILL don’t remember when an Izzo coached team got beat like that.  14-10 and 6-5 in the conference.  That is on the outside looking in right now most likely for the tourney.
  19. So, you are telling me that not only did Brady’s jersey got stolen, but White lost the game winning BALL? Funny stuff if it was a team that had never been there before.  But, from what I hear, they HAVE been there before.
  20. When I travel to my territories, I keep forgetting that there are parts of Cali and Arizona that get chilly at night in the winter.
  21. I had no idea. Driving in between Ontario and past Palm Springs, there is this ten mile sector that had HUNDREDS of lined up wind mills.  I pulled over and took pictures (will post this weekend).
  22. I also took pictures of these giant dinosaurs (really) along the side of the road. Pics this weekend.
  23. I won’t tell you the number of hours I ate Lunchables without refrigeration OR in this case without being on a AC’d ledge, but I am still progressively pushing the limits let’s just say. They should really contact me to do a commercial.
  24. Good article by Andy Katz about what is true and what is false in college bball right now. Find it.
  25. You can like women’s basketball. You can hate it.  You can be indifferent.  But, no matter HOW you slice it, 98 in a row is impressive.  98 of ANYTHING in a row is amazing.
  26. I admit it. I didn’t think we would be into February with Westbrook still averaging a triple double.  I admit it.  But, he is BARELY above the line.  Still impressive, but just not seeing him make it to the end of the long season in TD figures.
  27. I might have to watch Ball’s 92 point outing from start to finish. Initially, I was amazed.  Then, I watched the highlights.  Maybe they are “cherry picking” the highlights too, but he wasn’t exactly RUNNING back for defense.  Like I said, 92 is still amazing no matter how you slice it, but I am maybe a little less impressed if the rest of the game was that way also.  Plus, his BROTHER plays on that team and is also highly recruited.  What were HIS stats in that game?

I am going to support my colleague, Cerk, on this one.  People spell the following phrase wrong all of the time.  A la carte.  Actually, I will just have HIM tell you.  “So anyway, here is your lesson for the day:

A la carte:

It’s three words, “a la carte.”  It’s not ala carte, or al a carte, or alacarte.  It’s a la carte.

No hard feelings if you’ve messed this up in the past, this is just a PSA so that it doesn’t happen again J“

  1. My hotel room had a walk-in shower with a SEAT, qualifying it for…perfect…even if there was no fridge and other things.
  2. Yes, I am still wearing the “epic” bracelet. I found a neat little trick too.  When I have work meetings, I just flip it over and it appears to be a simple black band.
  3. Speaking of “epic,” Pancho’s band plays at Cervantes tomorrow. Come one, come all.  Great reggae.
  4. Not trying to say they ALL will convert to this, or that we want them to, but I went to a McDonald’s that DELIVERED my food. That is incredible.
  5. Yes, it also means I ate at McDonald’s once and In-n-Out twice. I won’t tell you my other meals, but they weren’t salads…
  6. Thinking about Gronk and the Super Bowl parade, have him and JR Smith ever hung out? I assume that would be fancy.  A bunch of shirtless idiocy.
  7. Speaking of crazy people, Lance Stephenson is BACK. Life is better when he is in the NBA and traveling city to city where he might do something stupid.
  8. Dan Fouts called out T.O. He says him not getting in is fair.    Maybe I haven’t made MY opinion more clear.  WHEN did we start caring about personalities off the field for the HOF?  Or, WHEN did it define yes or no in an easy YES case?  Bottom line.  Sure he was a crybaby and not the best teammate.  But, he has stats to back him and he CHANGED the game when on the field.  He should have gotten in last year, and Moss better get in NEXT year.  They transcend eras.
  9. I feel like I won’t even have time to give this Oakley thing credit. You have read all of the stories.  Dolan and him have issues, the Knicks suck, and Oakley had a bad night.  What can we say?  He loves his Knicks and they have sucked for a while now.  Should he have done what he did?  Of course not.  But Oakley is a guy who fought Charles Barkley in a PRESEASON game.  It is what it is.  Continue to watch him, but you still need him on your team in the stands.  You can’t ban a legend.
  10. And we can continue to laugh at him…from very, very far away.
  11. Oh, and the Knicks lost that game in ANOTHER heartbreaker. Same game. 82 times.
  12. People at Ontario Airport either drop more things at security or this place really CARES about returning it. Nonstop announcements-everything from a jacket to a computer to women’s undergarments.
  13. I think UCLA defends their crib tonight against a solid Oregon team. I was going to even take UCLA, but 4 points sounds about right to me…not messing with it.
  14. Geez, Jabari Parker is cursed. Kid is up to averaging 20/6 and then messes up same ACL.  Out for a year.  I hope he gets well and comes back with a vengeance.  Too young, too talented, and hate for him to end it this way.
  15. I might have made another small leap in maturity. Without client meetings before or after my flight, I am in a sport coat and jeans…not cargo shorts, a t-shirt and backwards hat.  Not sure what has gotten into me.  And my flight is delayed, meaning I am STILL sitting in these clothes.  I will write this incident off today as my suitcase was pretty full???  Or maybe…maturity?  Nah…
  16. So, the St. Louis Billikens bball team had just lost in basketball and just wanted to get HOME. No bus.  Bus driver went and got loaded (.22) and then arrested with the bus with a DUI.  That story is funny because it affected no one, but geez if kids had been in there…
  17. I hear you, Jordan Spieth. One, I believe people get mad at you with ALL of the freaking people you pass EVERY single event asking for autographs.  But, to call them out and ask them at least not to curse in front of kids?    If I wasn’t such a Rickie Fowler and Jason Day fan, I might be one of yours.
  18. Mike Tirico will be taking over the Olympics for Bob Costas. Good replacement but Costas will be missed.  At least if I had no idea if something was happening live or not, his commentary made me entertained.
  19. Joseph Randle strikes again. Battery on an inmate.  And here are the other fun things he has against him presently.  County prosecutors also allege that he purposely hit people with a car after being asked to leave a housewarming party, dodged law enforcement attempts to serve him with a warrant, threatened to kill a jail deputy and damaged a jail television.
  20. I will knock out a VDay gift this weekend. I am really at a loss as to do ON the stupid day.  Not a fan.  I have some ideas of where that Cupid could go…
  21. This is REAL.  The next Winter Olympics are at…ummm….Pyeongchang????  How did I miss THAT vote?  Ummmm.  Ok.  Moving on.
  22. Sorry to hear about the tornadoes in New Orleans.  I definitely must not have  been watching the news for a full day on that day.
  23. I think if it is not my favorite story of the week, it is close. Brian Wilson.  Yes, THAT Brian Wilson.  Coming back as a KNUCKLEBALLER????  That is just fun on SOOO many levels.
  24. Is it already WBC time again? Is it another year of the U.S. putting a stacked lineup out there and still somehow lose.    I will go with the Dominican Republic.  Really going out on a limb there.
  25. I get being “hurt” about M.J. badmouthing your 73 wins. What I don’t get is telling everyone about it.  I really don’t care nor need to know that.
  26. Maybe I read the WRONG ones.  But, SOMEONE is giving the new John Wick movie good reviews?  Is that possible?  Nah.  I will assume I read the only two that laud it.  Moving on.
  27. There is an actual SHOW called Superior Donuts???  And it was #4 in the land of people watching last week?
  28. Christie Brinkley is going to be in the SI Swimsuit Issue??  With her daughters???
  29. 1984 by George Orwell is the #1 seller this week?
  30. (thinking about it…)
  31. Is it because of Trump? Has to be…moving on.
  32. Lady Gaga’s sales went up 960% after her Super Bowl performance. Since she was a star before and I assume selling records…I think that is pretty good.
  33. In my rental today, I didn’t feel like changing the channel. Too confusing in that fancy thing.  Anyway, I officially listened to the “hottest” hits for over an hour.  When Big Sean’s Bounce Back played for the second time, I felt pretty hip and caught up.
  34. Every time I think about granting public access to my blog ideas, I have a day like today where I realize I do delete a LOT sometimes before posting. A lot that goes on in this brain of mine even if it isn’t productive…

  39. Gotta run…talk to you later. Maybe Southwest will realize I have had enough of Ontario for this trip.
  40. Think that is it for today. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.  Onward and upward.
