Thoughts for the day…

1. Greetings and salutations, people.  Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  Quick hitters today, but a good many of them since I missed a day.  Let’s turn and burn.
2. I was surprised that UCLA lost at HOME, but not to WHO.  Zona will be operating on all cylinders with Trier back in the lineup.  And let’s not forget that those far from shabby recruiting classes DO add up here and there.
3. Littleton was great.  That was my crib for a long time.  One of my top tiered bartender colleagues was working, and got some time with both owners of OTT.  Lots of old faces and posted a nice score in Gtee.  All in all, a nice road trip Saturday.  Probably if we do the same type of day again, the main change will be going down maybe two hours before our date night at Melting Pot, and not 5.5 hours.
4. Still not totally sure how Kyle couldn’t have Toni watch the kids and come have a beer, but oh well…
5. They might be done by the time we wake up tomorrow, but can two paths for two older tennis players be ANY more laid out?  Federer and Nadal will kick themselves if they don’t continue on their path with Djokovic AND Murray out of the picture.  And you know Milos doesn’t think he is a favorite still.
6. The ONE time I don’t pick Tsonga in the last like 14 Grand Slams and Tsonga makes a run…perfect.
7. Just read MMQB every Monday.  You will be better for it.
8. Watching the NC State-Duke game, which is a much better one than expected.  Dennis Smith is SOOOO good, Allen is so hateable, and Kennard is the goofiest pure scorer I have seen in a while.
9. Von Miller, Justin Houston, Clay Matthews, and…Jamie Collins…Browns.  Got paid today.  Nice to see the Browns NOT lose someone.
10. What a weird three days for Johnny Manziel.  With his history, not NEARLY in HIS top weird three days, but interesting regardless.  Friday he says he is sober.  Sunday night he is at the AFC Championship Game decked out in Brady gear, and this morning he gives Trump’s Twitter address ADVICE, and then deletes his entire account seconds later.  I mean, we can extrapolate and I would extrapolate he got drunk again.
11. Well, so much for THAT.  Duke blowing it open now.
12. Some things outrank other things.  I admit I will be missing one and watching another one later.  Epic bball games.  I will be in Aspen for the X Games.  Love that town, and there are other sports to watch up there.  I will miss the UK-KU game, and will be watching Sunday’s UVA-Nova game later on Sunday.
13. The Seminoles moved up to #6 in the rankings.  Highest since 1993.  I remember that team.  They had one of the deepest teams that year, and have it again this year.
14. This is traditionally a non picture blog day, so let’s just say that Greg is right.  The guy who pulled the fire alarm at the Steelers hotel looks a lot like our colleague, Baxter…who happens to be a Pats fan.
15. I am so glad that the wire told me Brady and Matt Ryan text regularly.  NOW I can get some sleep tonight.
16. Watching a foul shot.  They still that Curtain of Distraction thing going on out there in the Southwest U.S.  LOVED that thing.
17. Scary.  You could have gotten the Falcons at 100-1 at one point before the season started and…more bets were laid on the Browns winning the Super Bowl than the Falcons.
18. I love this headline.  “Colts fire GM, hire psychologists.”
19. LOVE what DeMarcus Cousins did the other night.  If you get fined for speaking out on refs, then why not say nice things and be sarcastic.  What he said was really funny.
20. NC State making it tight again.  Wow.  Almost turned it off.
21. We are going to see quite a few more 40 plus point games by Mr. Leonard I would ballpark.
22. I can’t believe we lost Ventura months after losing Hernandez.  Two very young, very high potential pitchers and big losses to MLB.  Thoughts and prayers.
23. I rode in a car in the Dominican Republic a couple times.  I was very happy when the ride ended each time.
24. MORE weird we lost Marte in the same country within the same 24 hours…
25. NC State now up AT Duke.  Allen is 1-9 from 3 and Smith is putting on a freaking SHOW.
26. CSI:  Miami was a show that was a GREAT comedy because it was so bad trying to be a drama.  I even laugh these days when a side channel plays a COMMERCIAL for a rerun of it…which happened a couple times this weekend.
27. I have seen a LOT of Discovery Channel.  Caught two giraffes fighting this weekend.  Maybe I forget as I have HAD to see it, but totally spaced they fought with their necks.  Been a while.  Can’t use their feet?  It is BRUTAL to watch.  They need to play cards or something…or draw straws.
28. If I am a single person these days, I am having back to back dates on Farmersonly.com and Elite Singles.
29. Listening to Lindsey watch that cabbie who names John Elway as his favorite QB of all time to a rider who asks and one of the people in his cab IS John Elway.  You should Google that, Mom.
30. Wow.  Beat them AT Duke.  They tried to give it away, but still pulled it off.
31. The Chips movie might end up fantastic, but it looks absolutely horrible in TV previews.
32. So, as much as an photographer I say I am, I JUST figured out that the zoom on my cell phone camera is simply a scroll up and NOT a pinch and zoom.  Only took 3 plus years…
33. Watching the Packers game at the Irish Snug yesterday was fine, but sort of surreal when a Irish band started play full volume after halftime.  I was leaving anyway, but still weird.  Football season not done yet…
34. Get the Irish Scramble if you go to the Snug…delicious, and my favorite each time.
35. There is a Diet Dr. Pepper CHERRY???? How long has THIS been going on????
36. Bet you the Lakers were kind of happy that two blowout football games occurred at the same time that they were posting the biggest losing margin in HISTORY for their franchise.  Wow.  Got smoked.
37. There is a Training Day SHOW??????
38. We are officially out of ideas.
39. Watching the Caribbean Life show is so depressing…my plan is not immediate…dammit.
40. KU travels TO WVA tomorrow.  One of the toughest places to win in the country.  Then, as soon as they are done, they can focus on UK.  Wow.  Then Baylor.  Yikes.
41. The Falcons made their game look like a video game against the Packers.  That offense is so crazy…almost as video gamish as…
42. Listen.  I don’t feel like commenting too much on the Steeler-Pats game.  Too soon.  I will just say a few things.  You NEED to make plays when you play zone against Brady and give up those passes, and no plays came.  The Bell injury didn’t help, but wasn’t the difference by any means.  Steelers did not get a few key pass rushes, which was the one thing we DID know they needed.  There was NO alternative plan for when they took away Brown.  Ben didn’t do anything magical.  Brady was like a surgeon.  The Steelers didn’t even show up in my opinion.  At least lose because you gambled on a few plays.  The momentum went FULLY the other way when that touchdown got called back on the goal line.  Never recovered.  Would love to see the Falcons give the Pats a run, but not sure I see how it happens.  More to come on the prediction.
43. One final note.  Down in the third quarter when showing a couple Pats smiling, they showed Hamilton on the Steelers sideline LAUGHING.  It was a little too early to stop being PISSED and keep playing.  Not a fan of his right now.
44. Know that picture I was searching for Saturday?  Well, I just realized I had it in a permanent blog folder the WHOLE time.  Whoops.
