Quick lunchtime cast.

HOOK:

I get the feeling that outside of the Clemson game (which they get at home), if there was a time FSU was going down, the chance was last night.  The freshman QB is now only going to get better after putting Seminole fans through the ringer before a second half comeback.  The rest of the team is just too good.  They play in the weak ACC.  They could feasibly run the table with a freshman.  The last time they did that didn’t turn out so bad.

LINE:

“Open.”

Both draws at the US Open have shaped up to be pretty good.  There aren’t too many players in either draw that I would be frustrated about having a chance at winning it all.  The women’s is a little lighter with less story lines, but you have Serena and Halep next, which will be a great quarterfinal match.  Wozniacki is a fun story, but not sure she gets by Kerber.  But, I would love to see Wozniacki-Williams in the final.

The men’s side is simply FUN.

FAVORITES:  Djokovic, Murray

ALWAYS DANGEROUS:  Wawrinka

BEST STORY:  del Potro, Pouille

BEST PLAYER TO NOT WIN A GRAND SLAM AS OF YET:  Nishikori

PERENNIAL UNDERACHIEVERS:  Monfils, Tsonga

I still like Murray overall, and you know I already officially picked Tsonga for the 14,000th straight Grand Slam event.  Regardless, that is a nice remaining draw.

 

SINKER:

“Bayless.”

Troy Aikman is probably the most sane person at Fox Sports.  Of course, he has a beef with Fox hiring Skip Bayless.  They have a history of pub when Skip oddly try and say Aikman was gay.  That is personal.  I get it.  I personally have no problem with Fox hiring Bayless.  I think you should keep all idiots grouped together, and there are many at Fox.  So, putting Skip in Fox makes sense.  I would only worry that Skip might quickly ascend to captain of that squad.  Then, if I am Aikman, I am scared.

THE RIVER:

-Shaun Hill is only list as starter until Bradford learns one single word of the playbook, ok?  If only they could just morph those two into one decent QB.

-Kirk Ferentz got extended until 2025.  He is a great coach and runs his program well.  I just get nervous about rewarding a guy for that long who doesn’t have a title yet.

-Welcome back, Zack Greinke, as the Dodgers unloaded on him with FIVE HR’s.  His bank account is pretty full, but he HAS to be the poster child for someone just wanting the money and not caring about winning or titles.

-Tonight is my fantasy draft.  More to come on this.
