Catch Of The Day

One More Try…

Thoughts for your Friday…

  1.  TGIF.  I will be fast.  I am having a quiet Friday night and don’t feel like saving my thoughts for tomorrow.  Plus, odds are there will be more sports developments before tomorrow and odds are I will have very distinct and opinionated thoughts on each.
  2. No intern yet, so sorry for grammatical errors.
  3. I am saving my thoughts on the NFL All-Pro team.
  4. This Kyle Korver deal for a bag of chips sure takes a while to finalize.  Maybe the Hawks have decided to get TWO bags of chips for him.  But, know that GM LeBron is not done, as he says they still lack a backup PG.  Geez, I hope this trade deadline gives someone in the East SOME team that can give the Cavs a run in the playoffs.
  5. Zaza Pachulia is foreign.  He has an entire country’s support in voting.  And he is averaging 5/5 for the season.  As of earlier today, he was SECOND in frontcourt voting (interestingly behind teammate KD) All Star voting.  If there was ANYTHING that could change the ASG voting process, it would be this.  You go, Zaza.
  6. The Columbus Blue Jackets lost BADLY to the Caps (5-0).  Here is hoping they can get back on the horse.  My personal opinion is that they were more of a hot team than a complete team, but we will see.  They have until tomorrow night to right the ship as they face a very good Rangers team.
  7. On a high note in hockey, our U.S. kids outlasted Canada in the world juniors.  Pretty stellar overall tourney for those kids.
  8. The Colts will retain Chuck Pagano.  I concur.  I think a lot of their problems were personnel, injuries, and on the field performance.  I think the GM needs a great draft and move from there.
  9. Guess the Gophers found a true bad weather coach.  PJ Fleck has roots in Illinois and has worked jobs above the Mason-Dixon Line everywhere except the Bucs.  I personally would have waited out the job of his dreams as it would have come, but rock on, PJ.
  10. This Grayson Allen situation is so weird.  People who are waiting for the ACC to come down on him might be waiting a long time.  Deal is this.  First and second incident?  Nothing came down.  Third?  Duke punished him one single weak game.  But, the ACC can’t punish him for a PATTERN.  They can only look at the last one.  Therefore, they will back off and let Duke do its thing.  Shame.  Until that nothing happens, I will just hope someone whispers something in Grayson’s ear to make him to something dumb again.
  11. …just like I will be SOOO hoping Joe Mixon does something stupid before the draft.
  12. Glad I woke up from my Bill Walton haze and watched the end of the Rockets-Thunder game. That was an explosive fourth quarter.  Russell did his thing, and it was the assists FROM Harden that changed the game.  Probably a safe bet to say that is a preview of a 2nd round matchup.
  13. Oh, #twocatmark.  I gave Lindsey the remote while I blog and she turned on Keanu…the cat movie.
  14. I am letting it marinate still, but I still keep landing on Clemson 27-24.
  15. This Google Doc thing with my blog list is SOO great.  I successfully made it through two days without writing anything on a yellow legal pad paper.
  16. Gonzaga bball is pretty damn good, people.  Eight deep who could start on most teams in the power conferences.  Multiple transfers too.  They might end up being the successful version of Iowa State two years ago.
  17. I love that Dak Prescott didn’t say but did say he wasn’t taking a trip anywhere during his bye week.
  18. I was going to talk about Tyrod Taylor, but A) it becomes boringly confusing and B) it is boring even when it is not confusing.  Look at the stats.  Everything was up this year.  His stats.  Bills stats.  Not astronomically high, but enough that I would keep him before chancing it again in the draft.
  19. I love hot sauce.  Avery bought me a monthly delivery of odd, crazy hot sauce.  The Fuego Box.  Got my first delivery yesterday.  Classy delivery and the one we tried was crazy good.  Love it.
  20. Watching this movie.  Pretty funny actually.  Dude just had to say one interesting thing about himself, and he said “I went to the super early screening of the Blair Witch Project before anyone knew if it was real or fake.”  I just leaned over to Lindsey and said I did too.  Not a lie.  Went to that super small theater on 6th and Broadway after having a couple at The Hornet.  First day.
  21. Got home today and it was the FIRST day this week when Seinfeld was on instead of 2 Broke Girls.  Reel that back.  Seinfeld stays on.
  22. Well, I have to start two a days pretty soon for working out, so do whatever you want.
  23. Tomorrow on the agenda is the Colorado Stock Show.  The one day of the year I like to see farm animals, rodeos, and dogs bossing around sheep.
  24. Then, probably karaoke.
  25. Listening to sports radio in this town is so interesting with this coaching vacancy.  Some of the names coming up are so profound and some so unknown.
  26. Whether I work with Hoban anymore or not, dude DOES write on our work scribble board every single day somehow.  Swing by and say hi, bro.
  27. Work pools SUCK when the Broncos aren’t in the playoffs.  It means the work people don’t have that overwhelming Broncos optimism.  Dammit.
  28. Expand the World Cup field to 48 teams?  No.  I don’t have a vote nor persuasion on the soccer scene.  But, consider me a very strong NO vote.  I like how it is.  Everyone can’t come to the party.
  29. The George Michael scenes from Keanu rock too.  Hence the One More Try reference.
  30. Thoughts and prayers to the dead from the Fort Lauderdale ordeal.  Tragic.
  31. Gotta go and read the recently released Ten Thing I Like and Don’t like by Zach Lowe.  Great reading on the NBA.  And apparently the rest of this pleasantly surprising movie.
  32. That’s it for today.  Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.  Peace.
