SETTING:

This is written mostly on Thursday night.  Touched up before my Friday plans.  I am blogging for the first time in two weeks because, well, I have a job I work like 65 hours a week, so it is tough.  And this week was a tougher, busier week.  I had to do my PPT certification so I can officially sell our software.  That took a lot of my free time.

This one is barely edited once again.  Sorry.  And all thoughts were written all at once, with no big changes.  I just WROTE.  Kind of like the blogging version of Forrest Gump when running.

But, now, I feel the need…the need for speed.

Let’s turn and burn.

EVERGREEN (topics that don’t fade away):

BEST FANS

Everyone talks about Boston fans.  They dislike them.  I do not.  They are knowledgeable about their teams’ history.  They are fun and loud, but not overly abrasive like some other fans from the East Coast, Columbus, or Alabama.  So, are you faulting them because they are always winning?  Not their fault.  Are you mad because their QB is a pretty boy and their PG thinks the world is flat?  Not their fault.  Are you made because they refuse to use the letter “r?”  Kind of their fault, but loveable if you ask me.  I lived up near Boston for a year, and visited the city many times.  The city is one of my favorite places to go.  The people are loyal, genuine, and just a little louder than some of us.  I say God Bless Boston fans.  You bring something to the sports table that other fans need to hear.  And you win just enough to make you project your boisterous personality a little more.  Love those people.  Love that city.  Stop being haters.  Oh, and they just won again, so you got nothing.

NBA PLAYERS

AD demands trades.  Kyrie is mad at being in Boston.  Paul George decided to cut his dance short and stay in OKC.  LeBron left his city not once, but twice.  Kawhi went through months of weirdness and being silent, and then went to Toronto.  KD doesn’t want us to speculate publicly about his next destination even after ruining our NBA lives for a couple of years.  Where does it end?  I love basketball.  I love college basketball more because it is more pure, but I still love the NBA.  But, I am tired of this.  You all want to be more respected?  Then voice your displeasure simply, but DO YOUR JOB.  Play hard.  Go where you are traded.  Negotiate when you can, but stop trying to run over every GM in the business.  Yes, today is different and player power is more.  But, remember this.  MJ played the hand that was dealt.  Tony Gwynn just did his thing and stayed with one team.  John Elway (although flaking after college) then went through 10,000 RB’s in losing causes before finally winning two and dropping the mic.  Sidney Crosby came onto a losing team and made it great.  Stop complaining.  You have a dream job, and I, for one, am tired of all of your complaining.  Don’t try and make me dislike the sport I love.

BRADY

There are arguments in other sports, but you can’t question Tom Brady in his sport.  He was the GOAT before the Super Bowl this year, and now is even more entrenched.  Odd thing about this year.  Had he lost, he would have been 5-4 in the big game.  Barely winning and above .500.  But, 6-3 is now substantially different.  Another odd thing.  ALL of his Super Bowl games have been close.  He doesn’t blow teams away when he gets there.  But, he gets it done.  In this year’s Super Bowl, he was far from GOAT looking.  But, when the money was on the line, he delivered the key throws.  Hate him for whatever reasons you want.  He brings it.  He is a closer.  He is always in the mix.  And he won’t be doubted next year again as he gets a couple years into his forties.  Stop hating and ENJOY it.  He is not doing it with fellow Pro-Bowlers galore.  He has multiple second tier RB’s and WR’s each year.  He frequently has an injured TE.  He has a defense that pretty much only rises up when it is called upon.  Enjoy the ride, folks.

(Evergreen was rushed this time.  Last thing I wrote.  I will do better next time.)

WEEK-FISH (current topics of interest in sports):

NFL

  • I don’t care what anyone else says. I enjoyed the heck out of the Super Bowl.  To watch two offensive powerhouses get out-thunk by defensive masterminds, and then to watch Tom get a few key first downs with perfect reads and throws was awesome to watch, especially since I had money on the Pats.
  • The old man won in the biggest delta in QB age in Super Bowl history. Hate Tom, but man does he make us older folks feel good.
  • So, I guess that guy who bet $5 mil on the Eagles last year and took MGM for all of it, was more nervous, only bet $1.5 mil this year, and is poorer, sad, and out of the news.
  • If you tuned into the Pro Bowl for a quarter out of boredom, waiting for your wife to get ready for wherever you were going or waiting for your delivery food, then that is fine. If you watched the Pro Bowl from start to finish, or, worse, put action on the Pro Bowl and then watched it, then don’t call me to go have beers.  People who watch that scare me.
  • You can laugh at Boston fans all you want (I don’t, and love them), then think about THIS. They pulled 35,000 people at a Super Bowl PEP RALLY.  35k for a pre-Super Bowl get together…
  • I don’t root for DV, but with the writing on the wall that AB is leaving Pittsburgh, I am actually ROOTING for things with the law to happen to him. I won’t root for him and Bell to get in a jet skiing accident, but I won’t be sad either.  They took the Steelers window and threw it out the window.
  • It is sort of like how I didn’t cheer when Vince Young got another DUI, but I can’t say I didn’t smirk either.
  • I know McCourty said he might retire if the Pats won the Super Bowl. Did he retire actually, and which one was it?
  • Roger Goodell says that changes will occur with NFL refs, and hope the starting point is at least no Rams ties from officials doing weird stuff in important games.
  • So, DeSean Jackson would like to be a Ram.  The pick-your-new-team is now rolling over from the NBA to the NFL.
  • The Georgia businessman who scammed more than $750k in Super Bowl tickets also got $36k from his MOTHER. THAT is brutal.
  • Usain Bolt ran a 4.22 in sneakers and sweats at something called the Super Bowl Experience? So, although it is cool, I assume we can’t trust the stopwatches there at an event I didn’t really even know about.
  • The Chiefs banned the fan who used the laser pointer in the Pats playoff game. Listen, ever since I went to the Rose Bowl last year, and saw the detailed picture of ME looking down, among the 90,000 people, because of special cameras and such, I think everyone should just know that we have reached the point in technology that you WILL be on camera at some point in whatever you are doing in any public event.
  • Bad Lip Reading is one of the greatest inventions and really never gets old to me: https://www.thrillist.com/news/nation/bad-lip-reading-nfl-super-bowl-2019
  • Why was Carson Wentz being a bad teammate the lead wire story the day after the Super Bowl?
  • Why did ESPN lead their site later that day with a big headline that said Julian Edelman should NOT be in the HOF? Such negativity for a guy probably still using light sabers at Disney World.  Save the analysis of him not being good enough for the HOF until later.  Let’s let the paint dry first.
  • I am always amazed by the amount of logistics that go into any professional event, and still am wrapping my head around how the Raiders still don’t know where they will play six months before the next season begins.
  • Nick Foles is officially on the market, and Denver radio can’t decide whether he is the answer or Case Keenum B. But, they are talking a heck of a lot about Flacco and Foles.  Denver radio cracks me up.  The World Cup or March Madness could be going on, and they are still breaking down the QB situation with the Broncos.
  • I get the injuries. I get that he has other money-making methods.  I get that he has accomplished everything a tight end can do in the NFL.  But, and I can only speak from the view from my couch, wouldn’t you want to ride it out until Tommy is done if you were Gronk?  You know you are going to be in the mix next year, so why not?

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Either I was doing more things during the Senior Bowl, or I felt like there was less coverage of the event this time around.
  • Kyler Murray will at least attend the NFL combine. Whether he decides to go to the draft or not, those stats will be worth watching alone.
  • If I am a team looking for my franchise QB and I am not in the top 15, I am passing (no pun intended). I think next year’s guys look SOOO much better.  I would take Haskins, but every other candidate has deficiencies.
  • And, if I am a team in year 2 of a free agent guess (hello, Broncos), I am definitely not fishing or moving up in the draft for a QB this year.
  • I know Houston football underachieved this year, but, man, I didn’t see Ed Oliver dropping almost out of the top 10 in mock drafts. He could have been top 3 after last year.
  • Mike Stoops. Greg Schiano.  I am sure the Bama Way will make geniuses of those unlikeable guys.  I guess if we remember that Saban is smarter than all of us except for Dabo, then I am sure these are genius hires in some weird way.  Does he just make up titles so he has company watching film?
  • I guess after two straight college football playoff trips, the Sooners SHOULD put Riley in at least the top ten for salaries. They did.  Love that guy, married into a Sooner family or not.
  • I feel like Art Briles was a candidate at Southern Miss as fast as Kevin Durant’s free agency media irritation these days.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

  • I have already said it before they started dropping games, but Michigan State losing Joshua Langford was a BIG loss and put a big dent in their title hopes. Recent losses prove that.
  • I did not know that Ja Morant (Murray State phenom) and Zion Williamson (don’t make me explain who he is, Mr. I Live In An Alternative Universe) played at the same high school.
  • The recent Iowa-Minnesota game was 55-46 at HALFTIME.
  • Remember when picking your bracket teams that Iowa can really shoot free throws and therefore fight off late comebacks by mid-major gnats.
  • Minnesota has a great home court advantage, and some really good quality wins during this season.
  • I knew something would be goofy in that UVA-NC State game, and I was painfully right, but not too painfully. They did everything in their power to lose that game.
  • Listen, when watching the Duke-UVA game this weekend, track these three things and you will know my level of happiness no matter the score.
    • I don’t watch UVA’s score. I watch the opponent’s scoreand make sure they are trending for less than 60.
    • I watch turnovers. When UVA is turning the ball over at ALL, then their focus is off.  They should always be at less than 3-4 per half if they are playing THEIR brand of hoops successfully.
    • Team fouls should ALWAYS be low for UVA if they are playing their game.
  • Watch DeAndre Hunter from UVA tomorrow. He is  future NBA player that has glimpses of brilliance on the court.  Don’t blink.
  • KU lost to Texas. KU lost to K-State.  My O My.  Listen, I don’t fully get it.  A team that gets all the five-star guys should NOT fall off the map when they lose one big guy.  The way they are going, they are going to end up with a seed that no one in their region appreciates in the second round.
  • What a weird year for the Jayhawks. They lose their big guy.  Their five-star who didn’t actually DO anything wrong (others did) can’t play (De Sousa), and their inconsistent scoring machine (Lagerald Vick) just went home to attend to mom and rest of family.  Vick’s deal wouldn’t be weird IF his scoring average hadn’t suddenly plummeted since conference play began.
  • Right now, if you eyeball the top 25 and look at the lesser big-name schools and wonder who can make noise, Buffalo is not real fully and will go down second round, Houston has Kelvin Sampson as coach and could make a Sweet Sixteen run, and Nevada IS real and has Final Four potential. The Martin twins are just the tip of the iceberg in a very potent lineup.
  • As UNC hoops rounds into form, they definitely got even with Louisville last week. They had what we call a “winning streak,” so that is good.  They are too talented to not do some damage in March.
  • I didn’t watch the game, so I can’t bust on them TOO much, but the 24 points scored by NC State made them a new type of bipolar at the worst time of year.
  • The other night, I bet on Maryland just because I was so pissed that Nebraska was losing me money constantly. It was a good call.  What HAPPENED to the experienced, savvy, skilled Nebraska team that was supposed to sneak up on the brackets this year?
  • I watched that Florida-Kentucky game, and I haven’t seen a sudden choke/better team locks the other up more than the end of that game. Kentucky literally flexed its muscles.

NBA

  • I am writing this mostly on Thursday night, so the trade deadline just played out, and I will just be scratching the surface as a LOT of sub-top tier players got moved.
  • The Warriors are suddenly themselves, and about a month or two before I expected them to be that. Think about this.  San Antonio got FOURTEEN (.5 technically) points this week against them.  The Warriors won by THIRTY NINE points.  Pop got rolled by 39.  That just isn’t right.
  • And LeBron lost by FORTY TWO the other night. That isn’t right either.  But funnier for some reason.
  • I dislike Durant like most of us for ruining the NBA for five years. And, his cry baby rant about talking about free agency was silly and very aloof.  But, I WILL say that him flying back for Nick Collison’s ceremony showed that good side of him that haters like me hate to see.
  • The Anthony Davis saga is just odd. But think about this.  He is asking out, and he would be paid the Super Max contract if he stayed in New Orleans.  That is a LOT of money to give up in case you think his motives aren’t sincere.  And in New Orleans.  One of the best cities in this country.
  • It is good that AD didn’t get traded, because evidently this whole trade situation got LaVar Ball back on the radar unfortunately, and apparently his son is not going to New Orleans. He apparently can go to Phoenix.  Ball apparently is a Jedi who can alter the powers that be to make sure his son is in good hands.  While he was ranting about the trade rumors, he decided to call out that Luke Walton is the worst coach Lonzo could have gotten.  Noted, you idiot.  You are a car wreck and we can’t turn away.  But, the end game is that you still are a car wreck.
  • The Bucks, Sixers, and Raptors all made strong moves today. All have right to say they made the move that will get them to the Finals.  And, they just made the Eastern Conference the more fun conference in some ways.  The Bucks landed Mirotic, the Sixers snagged Harris, and the Raptors got Gasol.  All fit pretty well with their new team.  I like the pickups in that order.  Mirotic is the lesser household name with the skills to mesh perfectly in that starting lineup.
  • I am still confused (and sad for the guy) why Memphis traded away Marc Gasol but kept Mike Conley. I would have stripped it down fully and built it back up.
  • The Sixers got rid of Fultz. This is a great move.  Orlando can make that gamble that he will be someone, and the Sixers got something in return.  I still question the backup PG situation in Philly because of this move (TJ McConnell), but their starting five is now stocked fully and can hang with pretty much anyone.
  • We can hate him for taking his talents places. We can hate him for suddenly saying he isn’t yearning for anything else in the NBA (right after the trade deadline passed).  But, we can ALL agree that the NBA is better with LeBron being back from injury.
  • People were making fun of him, but I thought Rudy Gobert crying about his All-Star Game snub A) was adorable and B) showed that the game means something to some people.
  • We get tired of the old timers stealing votes from the youngsters in any sport, but it was very cool in my opinion that Adam Silver made Wade and Dirk ASG reserves. I will enjoy seeing them one more time.
  • Surprised?   Enjoying it?  Heck yeah.  I expected a LOT more media coverage about Melo when he was team-less.  I am enjoying the hell out of not reading about possible scenarios, and of course will wish doom on whoever lands him, if this year.
  • Earth is flat. Ruined the relationship with the greatest player of our time.  Says now he doesn’t owe anyone shit.  Kyrie is one odd dude.  Ridiculously skilled odd dude.  But, still odd.  You don’t “owe” us anything, but you DO owe us an explanation of how you wanted out of Cleveland, got out of Cleveland, got on a winning team, are winning, and now somehow are unhappy again.  You and KD should grab a beer soon.
  • Oh shoot. As I am writing this, I forgot that the goofy NBA ASG “draft” is tonight.  Not sure if I care at all.  I forget whether it is even televised.  Moving on…
  • I don’t think John Wall is the greatest dude on this planet, but I also don’t want to see him lose time because of a home injury.
  • I want to see him fail in a normal way. Or I want us to find out he was on mushrooms when he fell at home.  Basically, non-home related, unless funny.
  • I think the Rockets getting Shumpert is an OK pickup, but I don’t think it comes close to overriding the free agency mistakes they have made in the last year. They gave away their window when they let go of two positionless defenders.
  • Of course, during the NBA All Star Game “draft” LeBron picked the guy who left him and wants back, and the guy he can’t get to play with (Kyrie, AD).

MLB

  • This is NOT the way anyone thought it would go. We are two months away from opening day and Bryce Harper and Manny Machado do not have a team.  Again, this makes me think they are teaming up somewhere, and therefore the signing process is more complicated.  Watch they both go to the Yanks or Phils.
  • The Phils signing Realmuto surely doesn’t hurt the Phils’ cause.
  • I know MLB wants to shorten games, but one thing I do NOT want taken out of the game is the ability to change pitchers whenever managers want. This three-hitter minimum rule I hope is NOT passed.  I can handle the strategic delays.
  • Frank Robinson died this week. What did that guy NOT accomplish.  Rookie of the Year.  Only player to win MVP in both leagues.  First black manager.  Triple Crown.  A dinner conversation with that guy would be something to treasure.

NHL

  • The best player in the game (Crosby) got MVP of the All-Star Game, had four goals in what is always a scoring frenzy, and the only thing I am sad about is missing the skills events. Watching those guys hit targets, skate fast, and do other things on the ice makes you pause and realize how good they really are.
  • So, when a player loses a skate on the ice like last week with the Devils, does that mean he is the cool kid who doesn’t lace his sneakers/skates?

MISCELLANEOUS

  • I almost forgot before I stayed up to watch the Australian Open in the early morning time on the weekend. I can bet on tennis.  I picked the wrong time to remember I can bet on tennis.  Djokovic was unbeatable.  I put money on Nadal just because it would help me stay awake.  No one makes Nadal look sluggish unless they are playing out of their mind.  And when they are making NINE unforced errors in a whole match.
  • I hope I look as good at 58 years old as Ivan Lendl does. I saw him after the match and was like “whoa, dude!”
  • I get that there is a way that Jon Jones got cleared to fight in Nevada again, but I am still confused about why we care.
  • When you watch something like the 30 for 30 on Deion Sanders, you remember what mind-blowing, generation changing athleticism and skills were. People, when fans talk about an “island” in football, they pretty much are describing what Deion created.
  • I think when Tiger, Trump, and Jack Nicklaus all got together for golf, Jack kept to himself a little more than the other two. After all, whether Jack was crazy wild and did bad things in his off time or not, only HE really kept it a secret.  The other two we pretty much know or have enough information to assume.
  • Heard about Shakyla Hill? Grambling State women’s basketball player who just got her SECOND QUADRUPLE double.  Those don’t happen often, folks.  Those don’t happen often anywhere.
  • Rocco Mediate looks like a dude who got toasty during competitive rounds. I would play a round with him, Darren Clarke, and John Daly.
  • Well, I was very right and very wrong. I was very right about Bob Stoops coming back to coach somewhere and soon.  I was very wrong about where.  The XFL.  Did NOT see that one coming.

THIS AND THAT SPEED VERSION (pop culture, Fillerbuster thoughts):

  • I seriously would like to suddenly wake up and have an Australian accent.
  • I am noticing more Hump Day and more Farmers Almanac commercials again suddenly.
  • Lindsey did the Sterling Brunch with a friend in Vegas and I have to say that I was jealous a little. Not many food things that last for a two-hour window are worth $100 in this world, but that little known brunch is worth that and then some.
  • I still get jealous watching bartenders use devices that were not invented when I bartended.
  • Some songs get old to me. Some songs just seem to hang around my “like” zone.  For some weird reason, I still really dig the Chainsmokers song “Something Just Like This.”
  • The rules scene in The Legend of Bagger Vance after he moves his ball is fantastic and really nails one of the coolest parts of the sport.
  • I feel like I am coming full circle to my UVA days, as my khaki wearing days at work are about 3 out of 5 now.
  • I month, 1 week until Billions returns.
  • I think after our Virgin Islands and Cabo San Lucas trip this year, my top two trips are New Zealand and an African safari for 2020.
  • I wonder if I subconsciously got my travel pose (standing, palms out and facing up) from the White Walker from GOT. I am starting my re-watches of key episodes and just did Hardhomme last weekend.  Fantastic episode of that show with a little of everything.
  • Prestige is such an awesome magic movie. Caught a little of it while Lindsey was out of town.
  • When I ordered Jimmy John’s online, I made a mistake I didn’t know you could make. I actually checked a different box than the standard roll because I didn’t realize what I am used to eating was a “French Baguette.”  That sounded weird.  I chose wheat bread.  Don’t do that.  It changes everything you know about Jimmy John’s. Stick with the odd French thing.  That is the norm.
  • We went to the movie viewing party of Princess Bride at Alamo Drafthouse, and I have to say it was well worth the trip. We were with people who loved the movie also (some dressed up-see below), and people were cheering during the whole movie.
  • I have decided to bring back the line “have fun storming the castle.” I will use it when someone leaves my house, work, or we separate in other ways.  The whole movie is a quote machine, but that is the present keeper for this round.
  • Our Air BNB is going better, but still not booked solid like we want. On the good side of things, I have days where my wife isn’t whispering and I have to tip-toe around my own house.
  • My wife and I now have a wine system. If I hate it, that means she will like it, and vice versa.  It is literally spot-on as a system.  I like win that does nothing.  Tastes bland.   She likes a little personality.
  • One week after a birthday Vegas trip, Lindsey’s friend, Kristin, backed up her birthday month with a local party for us non-Vegas friends. The funny part of that hook is that it was a minimally two-part birthday celebration.  Chicks love their birthdays, people.  Some pics are below.
  • I was told at the birthday party take 2 that when I am in my khakis and black Under Armour dry-fit, I look very Palo Alto-ish or Silicon Valley-ish. Not sure what that means but I will take it.
  • Have you golfed yet in 2019? I love these pin-in-the-hole rules.  Saves time and follows the PGA rules.  Love it.
  • My wife just informed me, during our recent cold spell, that warming up your car, or puffing, is illegal in CO. This is new to me.  I am also going to forget we had that conversation.  There is no way I am not warming up my car before getting in it.  I hope car thieves don’t read this thing.
  • Who wants to go see Cold Pursuit to see A) how bad it is and B) if he somehow sneaks in “a particular set of skills?” I have never seen an actor become a badass in movies so late in their life.
  • I believe I have the itch for a new tattoo. And I think this one will go on my chest.  More to come as I am starting to brainstorm.
  • I now begin my back to back of Valentines Day and Lindsey’s birthday. Tough road, and demands attention and effort.  It also makes me remember I wish I paid more attention.
  • Watching the Ted Bundy Netflix series was mesmerizing. I think my background of him previously was when I wasn’t in Colorado.  The Colorado ties blew me away and I had been to half those places.  Good series.  It glamorizes his killing slightly too much and dehumanizes the women a little, but well done overall.  I love serial killer stuff.
  • Lindsey and I did an old school Beast & Bottle trip when around our old Uptown hood. Although the breakfast wasn’t all we remembered, the name of their featured drink made my day.  Apricot About Dre.
  • It was a good last-minute decision to go see Eldren, the Pink Floyd cover band playing down the street. Some pics below.  Great band, and one of the highest male vocals I have ever heard.
  • As the mac and cheese captain of the planet, I am so excited Linds caught wind of this event we are going to tomorrow (Friday). It is sold out, and it will be amazing.  All you can eat mac and cheese.  So excited.  I am sure my next blog will have some notes.
  • The acoustic version of Plush, in my opinion, is one of the best songs ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnSxtv5BnZo
  • Sweet Cow has ice cream that truly rivals Little Man.  Plus, there is more parking.
  • Linds and I tried a hidden gem down the street the other day. Trattoria Stella in the Highlands offers some fantastic Italian food, an awesome Italian brunch, and $10 bottomless amazingly as a bonus.
  • We are now giving our cats “Cat CBD” because one of them is kind of mean. So, I just say our cats are now high.
  • I didn’t go to a Super Bowl party. Linds did.  To be honest, small group, large group, it doesn’t matter.  I hate losing focus on the game.  Point blank.
  • A Taco Bell has moved two blocks from our house. I am not a Taco Bell person, and actually freeze up when ordering because I don’t know the menu well.  Luckily, my wife IS a Taco Bell fan, and I now have learned I like the Cheesy Gordita something.
  • I don’t care if it was a “juvenile” mountain lion. Want a Colorado story to share with people?  Here you go.  I would have paid a LOT of money to watch this guy not just get lucky with hitting a mountain lion when attacked, but choking the thing out.  https://www.si.com/edge/2019/02/05/colorado-runner-mountain-lion-attack
  • I think East Coast people are more familiar with Rosenberg Bagels more than Colorado people, but lately I have been around when CO people did eat some of these bagels, and they also wonder “HOW are they so much better than normal bagels?”
  • On one occasion, I even had a few pumpernickel ones in the stash. This flavor is the most overlooked flavor of bread and bagel on earth, and I get frustrated when I can’t get one when an “assortment” is presented.
  • Sure, I almost went to Elton John the other night at the Pepsi Center, but considering I already saw Elton John WITH Billy Joel, I figure that pretty much covers bad ass keys concerts.
  • Denver was 60 degrees on Tuesday, and tomorrow morning it will be 4 degrees. We are living a few days as the stereotypical Denver, but don’t tell anyone that it will be 60 probably in a few days again.
  • It snowed. I LOVE my 4Runner so, so much.  Handles like a champ.
  • Yes, in 4 degree weather, I am wearing cargo shorts Friday at work.
  • Previously, I shared the amazing card trick that won the overall magic WORLD title. That was cool.  This is another guy auditioning for that show World’s Best, and if you like magic, and if you like card tricks, and if you like music, then you are cheating yourself by not clicking on this link.  This is fun and dirty.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p61AaG3wd20
  • You would also kick yourself, if a Game of Thrones fan, for not clicking on THIS link. This is what Bronn was before becoming a badass in GOT.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fgUY-kXlBA
  • The Simpsons just got renewed, and your life goal at this point should just to outlive The Simpsons television series.
  • Along with the Sharks on television, I almost rolled off the couch when watching Shark Tank and watching the pitch for Zugopet. Literally, and they didn’t get a deal, it is a safety seat belt for small dogs.
  • I get taking all of our money, and I get Samuel Jackson being in pretty much every movie, but another Shaft…with three of them?   We are out of ideas.
  • Delta and Coke had an idea to unite passengers with weird love notes for passengers on the plane. Not sure how that idea got out of the pitch room, but don’t look for it on your plane.  They already pulled it after people were a little creeped out.
  • I hope tomorrow at work delivers free pizza to me, because having a free pizza day and coupling that with an all you can eat event for mac and cheese just sounds…magical.
  • I had something at work happen where a very minor technical problem is affecting much larger things. I then belted out the line (with stone replaced) “I will NOT let a stone take my glory.”  Evidently, other people at work have not watched the fight scene in the movie Troy a hundred thousand times like I have.
  • I never thought I would agree to pay $20 for a hot sauce, but we just ordered our second bottle of Truff, a truffle hot sauce, and it is ridiculous, off the hook, and something you should consider that is kind of a food game changer.
  • I wonder how much Denver rock station 106.7 KBPI gets paid to play Imagine Dragons, because although I like the band, they stick out on the playlist like a sore thumb.

THIS WEEK’S LIST:

Best Burgers in Denver revised now that Old Major took the Double Double off the menu.

  1. Humboldt-Uptown Denver
  2. Hotel Jerome-Aspen
  3. D-Bar-Uptown Denver
  4. Linger (the sliders)-Highlands Denver
  5. Cherry Cricket-Denver

THE RIDDLE:

No winners last time.

2857 was the record I find most amazing.  This was the amount of points Wayne Gretzky scored during his career.

No riddle this week.  I will have one ready for next time.

CLOSING:

I have to go figure out my masterful gift for the dumbest holiday of the year and eat some mac and cheese in the meantime.  Wahoowa.  Go UVA.

And mac and cheese IS the greatest food on earth and I will eat myself into oblivion storming the mac and cheese castle tomorrow night.

Plus, I’m kind of tired.  Think I’ll stop blogging now (go back to the Gump reference-full circle).

That’s it for today.  Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Remember two things.  First, feed yourself, feed your family, but always, always remember to…feed the wolf.  Second,  if you can’t spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then you are the sucker.  Will I blog again?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.

PICS:

This is the Pink Floyd cover band I went to see:

The crabcake benny from that place Trattoria I talked about above:

I wish I learned how to ski.  I especially wish I learned to ski as well as my ex-coworker, Cerk.  He skiied the circled area.  Bad. Ass.

The Princess Bride movie watch party:

My wife and I at the two part birthday party:

Fun people playing fake instruments at two part birthday party:

Linds and one of her best buds:

And finally, they even had digital signage at the two part birthday party:

And, in case you care about what I threw back in the pond, here you go…
