Catch of the Day

MORE TO COME, EVERYONE

Saturday was such a fun sports day.  Today, I take a moment to let you all know, if you missed it, there are plenty of upsets yet to come in this college football season.  Here are my thoughts team by team.

FSU:  Easiest path, but I have said where the stumble will be before the season started.  I think it will be at Louisville, but all of a sudden that game before against a better than we thought Notre Dame team is daunting.  They lose one of those.

AUBURN:  Geez.  Take your pick on the stumble.  So, let’s pretend that they take care of business at home against a dangerous South Carolina team.  Let’s go out on a limb and say they beat Ole Miss AT Ole Miss?  Then, let’s get crazy and say they beat Georgia AT Georgia??  All that being said, they still play a pissed Bama team AT Bama.  They lose at least one, and probably two.

MISSISSIPPI STATE:  Even if they handle Auburn at home, they still get Bama and Ole Miss on the road.  A perfect road isn’t feasible.

OLE MISS:  IF they make it to their last three games, they are golden, with Presbyterian, Arkansas, and Mississippi State looming and only Arkansas being away.  But, they won’t make it that far.  Even if they manage to get it done AT Texas A&M, I don’t see them beating LSU playing at LSU.  And, if by chance they do, Auburn comes to town, and probably pissed THEY lost a game at that point.

BAYLOR:  About as workable schedule as any team out there.  Three tough teams they get at home-TCU, KSTATE, and Oklahoma State.  So, assume they take care of those games, and then you still have that ominous visit to Norman.  They go down in Norman.

The rest.  Notre Dame loses either at Florida State or at USC.  Bama might run the table from here out as they get Auburn at home, Mississippi State at home, and at LSU is the only scary game left.  Michigan State WILL run the table as their toughest game is home vs. Ohio State.  TCU will stumble either at Baylor or at West Virginia.  Arizona will lose most likely at UCLA in a couple weeks.

What does all this mean?  Well, without meaning to, I guess I am telling you that for the time being, I think that it will be Bama and Michigan State in the title game.  But actually with the whole playoff concept, that depends on final matchups of course.  But I also am telling you this season’s story is far from over and your team probably is still in it.  Trust me.  Who is not on this list that might still make it?  Oklahoma and Georgia probably are the best bets outside of the top ten.  That is all for today.
