Just was in the cards…
HOOK:
“Nova.”
Well, I gave you all the reasons yesterday why UNC was going to win with a disclaimer that I was probably wrong…and I was. Something was brewing on that Nova part of the sideline all previous 5 games, so why not one more? My random thoughts as always on the game.
-Some of the special effects pregame were pretty mind-blowing…anthem, introductions, etc.
-It appears MJ can’t get the best seats these days, and it was great to see Rollie M. and Eddy Pinckney sitting right next to each other.
-Sure adjustments would have been made, but scary the game was still close WITH UNC making three’s in the first half.
-We look at the final score, and I think a little about the 4 point swing at the very end of the first half.
-I enjoyed the game overall, but think it was too tightly called at times, and also that it was a little sloppy in the last ten minutes until about five minutes left..
-Fun to see back and forth basketball with a couple great players making great baskets.
-Some of the UNC defensive lapses on certain plays really irritated me from a basic basketball sense.
-It seems simple to throw the ball inside, but I think UNC underestimated the effect of Nova’s outside pressure on the ball.
-So weird (and good) to see a fair amount of seniors on the floor in the finale (almost half the starting lineups).
-First buzzer beater in final since Mr. Charles, and that finale might have made up for a very subpar round and maybe two before.
-Great article on ESPN about how college basketball needed this victory by Nova. Twelve of last twenty champions were from four schools, and the other eight weren’t exactly lower tier teams. This one bucked the system.
-And I hope everyone enjoyed Duke being a little down and out, because they are loaded next year.
-Still sad about my Cavs being ousted, I leave you with this blurb on their future.

I won’t be able to catch much of it this year as I am out of town, but the excitement is still there and it is the greatest golf tournament ever.
SINKER:
“Rockies.”
STOP the baseball season. The Rockies are first in their division, my Phillies are 0-1 and heading to certain disaster, and my preseason Blue Jays champion pick is 2-0.
