Catch Of The Day

It really, really isn’t easy being green…

kermit

Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.

In no particular order of chronology or importance…

On the clock.  Airplane cast.  Early morning and then evening cast.  Semi-speed version.  Let’s turn and burn.

  1. Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  Let’s clear the list in a semi-brief fashion.  Half airplane/ half hotel room cast.  No internet for most of it, so forgive any inaccuracies or bad data.
  2. Back in Oklahoma for two days. Always excited for the roads where absolutely nothing is going on.
  3. McGregor, just as long as you fight SOMEONE I am fine.
  4. I hear the 49ers will be keeping Colin Kaepernick. Ground breaking.  Whatever the brass thought of Kaep before is null and void with Chip Kelly in house.  He created excitement with a couple non-running QB’s.  His mind on all cylinders at home relaxing thinking of new plays for Colin.
  5. And then on editing, I find out his agents want a trade. Brilliant, and I love how things in sports change hour to hour.
  6. KU is still in my predicted Final Four, so beating Baylor the other night was no big surprise to me. What does surprise me is that EVERY time you think there is a year where MAYBE someone else can step up in conference play, they don’t.  Two weeks ago, OU was everyone’s sweetheart, and now Baylor couldn’t close the door late while playing at home.  Solid, but not spectacular starting five is what KU is, with no one to pass it too in final minutes.
  7. When you talk about good and bad conferences, think about this. In this week’s power rankings (not to be confused with actual AP rankings of course), Michigan State is #5 in the country.  In the Big Ten alone right now, they are in fifth.
  8. I never say WHERE I am when on work trips, but let’s just say that if I had to recreate Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, I found the place.
  9. I think “Manziel” and “grand jury” were meant to be together.
  10. There are no pics in this blog because I killed a double grilled cheese and burger tonight at dinner, and need to go to bed before my ridiculous metabolism kicks in and I get hungry again. I can eat any amount of food at any meal and be hungry an hour later.
  11. I get being cautious, but does Jose Reyes really need to be compensated while on leave? Broken glass in hotel rooms with your loved one tells me enough.
  12. In football, having a power shift with one guy doesn’t happen much. Not saying it will in this case, but someone will be MUCH deeper AND have a possible starter at QB when they pick up RGIII.
  13. The Saints released Marques Colston, hence ending the consecutive “what have I done?” streak I somehow have with either drafting him late or picking him up on the wire in fantasy football.
  14. So, just when the Griz were thinking this might be the year they break through in the Western Conference playoffs, Gasol goes down for the year. You can lose a player here and there, but no way Zach Randolph is carrying the Griz past any of the top teams in the West.
  15. Can we just pair up Dwight Howard and Zach right NOW as the best non winner most talented pair like ever?
  16. Burfict says he has to change the style of his play. Splitting the atom there, buddy.  I have followed you since college and you were the same way.  Better late than never I guess.
  17. Lindsey had on in the background last night while I was doing other stuff. PS I Love You?  Flick looked horribly girly.  Like throw up girly…
  18. I am in an exit row and got a complimentary orange juice. Wow, Frontier nightmares seem so far away.
  19. Smaller plane. I love small planes.
  20. I see the $5 foot long commercials from Subway, but don’t hear a catchy song. Don’t want to make it too obvious you popped up the price a dollar?
  21. The Capitals goalie Braden Holtby is on pace for 54 wins this year in the NHL. Considering a couple years ago, we figured Brodeur’s 50 win season might be not touched in our lifetime, it is amazing what the kid is doing.
  22. Global Poker League draft is today I believe. Read about it in Picture USA Today.  Kind of a fun concept but I have to see how people play as teams on a table before I really buy in.
  23. LOVE how Revenant seems to be getting traction as we get closer to the Oscars. Initially, I thought the easy one was best actor, but might get best director and picture too?
  24. Well, I got the Jeep back to the home parking spot, but the last start was one of those “might be your last” starts. If I could find time in my life, I need a car.  Walking to work in the meantime and feeling very green about it even though I know I will go back to driving back to work once I get a car.
  25. It’s not easy being green. Damn, one of a million best songs by Frank.
  26. The Nets WAIVED Joe Johnson.  If the Cavs pick him up, then I…will….do…something.  I don’t know.  Sounds more like a Mavs pickup to me.
  27. Let me know when the list of jokes comes out on top pick Jared Goff and his hand size.  I am READY.
  28. As we get near the NFL Combine, I can’t believe two things. One, a kid from North Dakota State might be in the top three draft picks.  Two, I can’t believe Chris Johnson STILL has the 40 record at 4.24.
  29. When is the Irving-Hilton-bedbugs commercial coming out?
  30. Pick me up for The Ringer, Bill Simmons. Come ON.
  31. UVA-UNC this weekend. If I was still a betting man, I would bet the house on UVA coming off a loss.
  32. I am a political science major who presently doesn’t follow a lot of politics. If Trump gets elected, are we all moving at the same time?  Did Damon clear enough room on Mars for a whole country?
  33. Peyton Barber is heading to the draft even though he won’t be a top pick. But, when you read about why he is going, you lose it.  His mom is homeless.
  34. I figured out today I am a bad son. I send presents and say nice things here and there, but at 43, realizing you suck kind of is irreversible, stings a lot, and makes you think about your daily actions a little more.  I have been selfish and can only improve moving forward, but prioritize, people.  Don’t make my mistakes.
  35. Moving forward, I will miss a blog to do more important things…at least until ESPN hires me.
  36. Wedding update. None today.  We are happy beyond all belief and I am overwhelmed with busy-ness.
  37. Wish my car would start one more time-stress would be better.
  38. Marty-no prizes-been a strange day, bro.
  39. Did I read yesterday that the Sacramento Kings have won three straight games? That is insane.  Like DeMarcus Cousins insane.
  40. Nothing is that insane.
  41. The O’s pick up Fowler and Gallardo, but that is not true because Fowler went back to the Cubs. Smart, smart man.
  42. Butch Jones is making it harder to buy into my pre-2015 2016 college football pick.  Traitor.
  43. Xavier gets beat by 31 points by Nova earlier in season and then manhandles Nova last night. You can call it conference goodness.  I call it second round loss.
  44. This is me in real life (ONE pic).  shorts
  45. Well, I like solid color backpacks…
  46. This is one of my best friends.  Seinfeld reenactment (TWO pics).  vince george
  47. Don’t get it???  Come on.
  48. Sort of inverted though…
  49. Wedding songs-not today, folks. List is kept though.
  50. USA Today sports section sucked today. Glad it was a 1:05 hour flight and how do you get off giving me a Masters preview a month before it happens but no college or NBA bball???
  51. My favorite new Lindsey photo.  linsa jax
  52. Guess since I showed some pics, I have to show the grilled cheese burger…  chesseburger
  53. New priorities. I am going to wait to build this thing up again with sports people until after my wedding and honeymoon.  In the meantime, there will be limited changes to it.  Back to me being a better person, dammit.
  54. That’s it. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.
