It feels like an Arby’s night…

Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.

In no particular order of chronology or importance…

On the clock.  Not an airplane rant.  Sunday afternoon rant.  Semi-speed version.  Let’s turn and burn.

  1. Greetings and salutations, people.  Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  I have stuff to do, so let’s blitz this legal pad of notes, throw some pics on it, and then exit stage left to go get ready for a busy work week.
  2. JJ, not much pops as I was a little too tired to do much today. I even took a nap, which is rare.
  3. One week until I sit on the couch for about 5 straight hours watching the final Mjor of the year. Getting excited and then will get sad right after when I realize I have to wait for The Masters next April.
  4. LOVE the Phelps story this weekend. Chad le Clos is a pretty damn good swimmer, happens to moonlight in Michael Phelps events (butterfly), and happens to talk a little smack too.  Those two split at the Olympics.  Chad posted a pretty good time in Russia on Friday, and then called out Phelps across the world on how he hadn’t  posted a time at that level since 2009.  What does Phelps do?  He goes out and beats that time, and posts the fifth fastest time EVER.  Pretty dope reply.
  5. That picture is great because he WAS answering the le Clos statement and Mr. Phelps usually is a pretty cool customer after a race.
  6. On another swimming note, take 5 minutes of your life and read the article on Katie Ledecky on fivethirtyeight. Pretty amazing stuff what she is doing and the comparisons of her times to guys will make you fall off the couch.
  7. Whatever Richie Incognito is saying about Goodell, I don’t care. Cool name, but you are not worth my time.
  8. Greg Hardy purchased a plan banner today to fly over Eagles practice. Lots of free time, lots of money, and I can’t believe I am even commenting on this story OR opened the article.
  9. Yes, I will watch the first 10-15 minutes of my boys tonight, but PLEASE don’t ask me tomorrow what I thought of the “game.” It is a glorified practice that happens to be on prime time television.
  10. Kind of nice to have football though. I currently am spending most of my free time listening to Dr. Dre and reading the ESPN preseason college football breakdown.
  11. Note to self I need to get my picks in for the PGA Championship on Draft Kings.  I can’t wait to pick my lineup and the analytics I will use to select.
  12. Sad about Frank Gifford, and I will let the writers who have writing as a full time job say things that are more pointed and eloquent. What I WILL say is that he was the classic original SOUND of MNF and anyone who makes 8 Pro Bowls at THREE different positions is kind of a badass.
  13. I have not listened to the induction speech for Junior Seau, but I am hearing good things.
  14. I am a homer and not even sure Bettis deserved a HOF nod, BUT now that he GOT that nod, pretty special weekend for the guy and he had the quickest feet for a big guy we have ever seen.
  15. Pretty cool nickname too.
  16. Yes, the Falcons SHOULD be considering locking Julio Jones up for a very, very long time.
  17. Matt Ryan just texted me. He concurs with that last hook and “then some.”  Thanks for staying in touch, Matt.  Always a pleasure, sir.
  18. I went to company party at The Tavern Downtown last night. I don’t bring work things into this for the most part, but will say this.  I am not a downtown guy, but every time I go downtown, I end up at The Refinery.  Love that bar.  Love the pepperoncini shot.  Not sure where that middle syllable goes, but I drink it.
  19. Hung out with Marty, one of my favorite people at work. Low key, hard worker, straight shooter, sarcastic as hell, and a great teammate overall.  Never thought I would ever say such nice things about a guy from Nebraska but that is why you have an open mind.
  20. Not sure his wife likes me, but I can be very unlikable to some people and I am ok with that.  I mean well.
  21. Rob never made the social event as expected, and I am pretty sure he doesn’t know I write about him in the blog. Don’t tell him.  Hardest worker, road warrior, smart as hell, and is called Ralph because he likes to think about things before doing them.
  22. Lindsey went and saw Trainwreck Friday. I am told it might be the funniest movie she has ever seen.  LeBron might be in the running for best athlete movie performance, but I can’t see this movie being up there with Princess Bride.  Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.  THAT is the funniest movie ever.
  23. And I quote that thing constantly still to this day.
  24. I watched about 10 minutes of a NASCAR race today (while resting my eyes in my Dad’s lingo) as my mom texted me to remind me that today was one of the few weeks in the year they turn right. Thanks, Mom.
  25. Hey, Mom, Dad knows I base this whole blog after fishing because of him, right?  Loved those early trout fishing and all day bay fishing adventures.
  26. My dad is an “angler” though, and not a fisherman.
  27. I don’t know much about NASCAR and freely admit that, but winning TWO races in one weekend sounds pretty stellar to me if you ask me.
  28. Read any article you want dated before the MLB season, and ALL of them will be mostly wrong about predictions on this year. Influx of 25 year old or less superstars AND teams that have been perennial losers are winning.
  29. Think about this. K.C. is one of the OLDER teams about to enter the playoffs.  That is crazy stuff.
  30. Pretty sure we sat next to Ms./ Mr. Jenner at brunch yesterday.  Jenner-Capture
  31. Yotam (foreign guy I ran the pool table from scratch with the other night), I hope Connecticut treated you well, and that you are having safe travels.
  32. Why does SI.com take SO long to load? Feels like I am going on a porn site.
  33. The Redskins and Texans are probably fighting because they both know they are in a for a LONG season.
  34. I am toying with an idea of having “reader power rankings” week to week. Still perfecting the concept, and yes, Vince and Logan, you both tie for #1.
  35. Unless Joseph is reading this thing still. Then those two guys get bumped to #2.  Got to keep it in the family.
  36. Mom, you are #3 but don’t take it as a slight, as Vince and Logan constantly reference my blog in emails and texts.
  37. I pledge to have the Arby’s Italian sandwich by the end of next weekend.
  38. Seriously, I find him the funniest guy like ever.
  39. Maybe on the way home from seeing Straight Outta Compton, which will also happen…probably before the leaders tee off on moving day.
  40. Lindsey and I are creating a chore list, which won’t be a problem for me because I like a clean house AND lists.
  41. No, I did NOT make it out of the grocery store Saturday without buying an Easy Cheese.
  42. They all look interesting, but trust my expertise that boring “American” is the best tasting.
  43. I am officially NOW starting my workout comeback this week. I want to bust out a flag by the end of December.
  44. And yes, I own that painting.
  45. I went to Sancho’s Broken Arrow the other night, and was BLINDSIDED to hear an empty jukebox when I walked in. Usually, you play songs knowing that the staff MIGHT hear them the next day.  I thought playing only 8 Widespread songs in a Dead bar was polite.  They were happy to see me go though.  Hey, I played one String Cheese song in the middle.
  46. I sat next to a guy who knows the guitarist from Drunken Hearts the other night, and I hope to parlay that new relationship into some GREAT future present for Lindsey, as she loves the band.
  47. Way to get Napoli BACK, Texas. Nice pickup.
  48. I have a guy who works at Uptown Tavern who always takes care of me when I stop by. He is still in my phone as “Rob Hop,” as he visited me for years while I tended bar back in the day.
  49. I am going to purchase a ViPR. I was telling someone about my past jobs, and just talking about it got me wanting the device that was pretty much the hardest workout I have ever done.
  50. So, Nick Foles and Sam Bradford switched teams, no one is sure whether they fit the system, and one already has an extension and they are working on the other one’s? I would like to see some field time before just throwing cash around.
  51. Pretty sure everyone and their mom expected at SOME point for the family of the late Kevin Ward to go pedal to the medal (kind of rude I guess, but see what I did there?) on a civil suit against Tony Stewart.
  52. That story has looked shady to me from the get go, and sucks because Tony was the only NASCAR guy I really liked.
  53. Not sure why everyone is making a big deal why a player finally randomly got hit when a fan threw a HR ball back on the field.
  54. Lavonte David deserves to get paid by the Bucs, he is one of the best LB’s in the game, and oddly has made the All Pro Team yet never made the Pro Bowl.
  55. King Felix has a quiet 14 wins, and said it here months ago he would make a run at the Cy Young Award.
  56. Landry Jones will be playing QB tonight, and I still have him to thank for Lindsey and I falling in love.  She posted a vicious reply to my Andrew Luck/ Landry Jones comparison on my blog and I fell like a blind roofer.
  57. My first year buddy at UVA used to say that and still love the line.
  58. Ok, Steelers PRACTICE on TV is about to start. Gotta go.  That’s it.  Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question (.335, 29, 69) , bro.
