(11 thoughts, my favorite number, and I live in CO-do the math-might be a new thing and make hooks more selective)

  1. Professional soccer the other day.  Top league playing against top tier players.  Guy gets a hat trick in FIVE minutes.  Pretty amazing if that was the end of the story.  Robert Lewandowski went on to score two more in the next four minutes, making the final tally FIVE goals in nine minutes.  That is nuts.  Using the Jim Rome scoring system of World soccer to American football, Robert scored 10 touchdowns in that time frame.
  2. The Cowboys hope Weeden makes the progress they hope, but I like the pickup of Matt Cassel this week. Romo is out a long time, and they can’t worry about the clutter at the position IF everyone stays healthy during Romo’s absence.  That is a talented team that is lucky to be 2-0.  They have to shore up EVERYTHING with all of these injuries.
  3. Good read about Gallinari in Grantland the other day. Check it out if you like basketball or the Nuggets.  http://grantland.com/the-triangle/ciao-gallo-the-rebirth-of-danilo-gallinari-and-maybe-the-denver-nuggets/
  4. Maybe it is good, but I highly doubt it. Television is pushing the show Blindspot like you wouldn’t believe.  I am happy with spending a little quality time with Lindsey watching a show I don’t hate in The Voice, and then turning the TV to something else.  I don’t care what is in my Blindspot.
  5. Kam Chancellor is back for the Seahawks. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out the Seahawks aren’t dead this year.  It also doesn’t take a genius to figure out who the true heart of that defense is either.  Everyone on that side of the ball is beyond happy about him coming back, trust me.  And the upcoming teams on the other side of the ball are very much not.  Stud.
  6. Real sinker that the assistant coach admitted to telling those Texas HS kids to hit the ref. I guess I am oddly glad in a way it was a Code Red instead of their own doing and motives.  And moving away from A Few Good Men, how many Karate Kids quotes do you think I am steering away from about now, aye?
  7. On two sides of the spectrum but near each other geographically, the Browns have decided to stick with McCown as their QB and the Buckeyes. Both are very good calls.  You play the entire camp to figure out who was the most consistent.  Now, you give them a chance to even out in the REAL games.  One of course has a little more on the line than the other, but that is neither here nor there.
  8. LOVE getting close to MLB playoffs. The Angels are making a run, meaning Mike Trout maybe CAN win the MVP.  The Blue Jays and Yanks are pretty much playing a playoff series right now.  And the Cards are the quietest kickass team in MLB I have seen in years.  Just plugging along to 100 wins.
  9. UCLA snuck out a game and remains in the hunt for the playoff. NOT going to help losing for the season Myles Jack, who not only is one of the best defensive players in the nation, not only made the game saving interception last week, but is not too shabby of a RB either.  Kid is insured for $5 mil and is eligible for the draft in 2016.  He will be fine.
  10. I am a LITTLE less worried about the defense of the Steelers as Ryan Shazier and the other first round defensive picks started maturing in front of my eyes. But, let’s just say I am REALLY less worried because they get back their stud, Bell, this week.  THANK you.
  11. Finally, RIP to one of the best winners and greatest guys in sports. We can debate the greatness of his 10 World Series titles, his 14 appearances, and his 3 MVP’s.  He will remain eternal for those things.  He will also remain eternal because of his words.  You probably don’t know the amount of Yogi Berra sayings you use each day of your life.  But, when you get to the fork in the road, take it, you can observe a lot by just watching, and it ain’t over til it’s over…which this is.  RIP, Yogi.
