Catch of the Day.

Next to last blog before my sabbatical/ hiatus/ leave/ VACATION.  For those who care, I will be writing a blog tomorrow before going off the grid until May 4th when I am on a plane to a work trip.  Yellow legal pad notes of course will be kept the entire hiatus, rest assured.

HOOK:

“Timing.”

Scott Brooks was fired yesterday by the Thunder brass.  If you take in his overall body of work, you MIGHT have a point on why he should have been told to exit stage left.  But, my hook takes a different route.  If there WAS a time to continue to ride the horse that got you there, it was this year.  He has had bad luck over the years in losing ONE of his key players for the playoffs.  This year, he didn’t have TWO of his stars for the majority of the season.  They still lost out in the competitive West on the last day of the year.  Failure?  Maybe.  Props for getting close with a skeleton crew?  Definitely.  If you made the decision to not fire him going INTO this season, I think you should have rode him for one last race.  THEN, make a decision.  So, with Westbrook and Durant both on record they like playing for Brooks, you need to bring in a coach that everyone likes.  My buddy, Vince, had a good point.  Perhaps they already have someone in mind.  Now, from the opposite side of the spectrum, IF you are making the leap into the NBA from wherever you are, you might consider THIS job.  Well, as long as you know you might be without star players one or two years from now AND living in glorious Oklahoma City.

SIDENOTE:  If Kevin Ollie takes this job days after saying he wasn’t looking elsewhere, it is a chump move.

LINE:

“Roadie.”

Thank you, San Antonio.  If you wouldn’t have beaten the Clippers last night, we would have 2-0 across the whole freaking NBA board.  We knew this would be an old vs. new series and it is shaping up to be just that.  In the other games, same as I expected.  The Hawks won but look flawed and not contenders against a very bad Nets team.  The Grizzlies are OWNING the Blazers and now we have to remember a year or two ago, when we all said the Blazers were on the upswing and now we are wondering if LeMarcus will even stick around for any more time.

SINKER:

“Reversal.”

Sorry, Mr. Bonds.  Congrats on your court “win,” but it is a sinker whenever anything good happens to you in your post career if you ask me.  And, you won TWO things, as you barely nudged out Ms. Griner for Sinker of the Day.

MISCELLANEOUS (one sentence per hook style):

-I feel like if I roll with any Brittney Griner/ fighting fiancee jokes, it would be VERY much gray area and probably not come across as harmless….so I will move on.

-Oh, so it was a back injury, Rajon…gotcha.

-Greg Hardy was suspended 10 games and my confusion continues on anyone thinking that is too much when strangling, throwing in bathtubs, and machine guns exist in the conversation.

-Can society come up with a better name for a man to call the woman he is to marry besides “fiancee?”

-It sounds SO stupid unless we are watching this scene from Seinfeld.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04ueFND7JT4

-Tebow getting no guaranteed money is good, and Eagles brass saying he has improved since last stint is not.

-The demon kitty can now climb my legs when I wear jeans.

-I get the feeling a lot of things can happen between now and 2018 and Ronaldo will end up not coming to L.A.

-40 year old Joe Nathan being lost for the season for the Tigers at least brings down their ancient average age a couple decimal points.

-Dwayne Bowe did something very nice for a deceased K.C. fan and it is weird saying positive things about Mr. Bowe.

-If you are unsure about future stars, think about how Kawhi Leonard will be the Spurs star for years to come and he ALREADY has now locked up a Defensive Player of the Year trophy.

-Dude can flat out BALL.

-Bryce Harper needs to bump up his .255 average to at least .280 before I start using my clown sign off again.

-I am seeing the articles, and no, the Mets are NOT this good.

-Someone PLEASE call out a parking lot attendant reference on Live TV when Britt McHenry returns to the tube.

-Everyone just RELAX as Nadal is just saving his juice for the Nadal/ French Open, even with his early round exit in a warmup tourney today.

-Qatar just released its new World Cup stadium design, and I have to say it is much better than the earlier gray area design for a sports stadium a couple years ago.

NOT GRAY AREA:

ga-Capture

GRAY AREA:

That is it.  Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  As one shepherd said to the other, I am getting the flock out of here.  Peace.
