HOOK:

The hook is mainly for the 49ers but partially for the Eagles.

Niners.  You have WAY to much talent, injuries/ suspensions or not, to not be making the playoffs at any seed.  The egg you laid at Oakland last week might be a spotlight, but the entire season has had you as a confusing team for fans, all trying to figure out how you were not blowing people out.  Regression at the QB spot, aging skill position players, and a defense that was not as lights out as we predicted MIGHT give Mr. Harbaugh a good enough excuse to head elsewhere.

Eagles.  You are not officially OUT of the playoffs, and I will keep this short.  On your home field against a rival, with a multitude of teams near your general records, and you HAVE to shut the door, backup QB or not.  You now will need help possibly.  Forget Mark Sanchez’s sudden “I TOLD you I am JUST a backup QB performance.”  The rest of the guys need to make up for it.  Notice what that Arizona team did on Thursday down to their third string QB?

The Yankees got Chase Headley acquired this third baseman during last season and apparently plan on sticking with him for another four years.  Why I like this move has nothing to do with his slightly elevated stats once he left San Diego.  Why I like this move is that this makes it that much harder for A-Rod to earn his way on to a baseball field in New York next year.  I am sure they will use him in some way, but this takes away the primary possible spot where he would land.  Props, Brian Cashman.

SINKER:

Sacramento is not exactly title town USA.  Starting 11-13 and a half game out of the NBA playoffs isn’t so bad.  Starting 5-1, then 9-5, and still keeping that present record even without your star inside guy being sick for most of the last ten games isn’t too shabby either.  You all pulled the rug out a little too early, Sac-Town executives.  Mike Malone deserved a little more time.  I like some kids on this roster down the line, but don’t see this as a lineup to fire a guy for having his record this early in the tough West.
