1) The U.S. looked solid yesterday against Panama. I enjoyed it even more listening to it in a foreign language. That is 11 straight, but let’s not get TOO excited. There are 50 teams ranked higher than Panama in the world and we won 1-0 (14-0 in American football Jim Rome speak). Being in a tournament with Brazil, the Netherlands, Argentina, Spain, etc. will not be quite as fun. Donovan’s assist was pretty sweet regardless.
2) How adorable. Derek Jeter added to his legend by hitting the 1st pitch returning from the DL out of the park. The man DOES have a knack for the moment. Maybe HE will also remind his teammates that they are in 4th place in their division.
3) I figured out how to not get hooked on True Blood. Get out of the room and do other stuff. Now, everything I learned KIND of watching it a week ago is a distant memory.
4) I am sure the Phillies are SO sad for Jonathan Paperbon’s plight of being trapped on that team. I am sure NO one else wants to win too (not you, Ryan Howard, you just wanted paid). Anyway, prepare for the Cliff Lee rumors. They better get a LOT back from it. With Peavy and Lee the best out there that we know are on the market, my bet is the Phillies WILL get a lot back for him. After that excitement, I can go back to watching them drop like a rock through their division.
5) Actually they don’t have far to drop now that I think about it. Plus, they have Miami at the bottom. OK. I can just get back to watching them LOSE.
6) Pretty funny that Brandt Snedeker thanked Hunter Mahan’s baby in the awards ceremony.
7) Albert Pujols was moved to the long term DL this weekend. I almost forgot he was on that team and being overpaid. Dude is QUIET since signing that long term contract. A .258 average will do that.
8) Where was Heels PJ Hairston GOING? Right after being put under the microscope for his last shady event, he was busted for driving 93MPH in a 65. He seems definitely to be in a rush to ruin his NBA career. He is like the poor man’s Johnny Football.
9) Again. I had Eleanor towed today to yet another mechanic. White smoke coming out of the hood bright and early this morning was NOT how I wanted to start this work week. Ugghhh.
10) Michael Phelps is being “vague” about his Olympics future. Of course he is. How else do Olympians stay in the news? You have to CREATE a story.
11) Thanks to my Lindsey’s friend, John, for the hospitality yesterday. It was a pretty incredible meal he cooked on the grill and I learned how to play Dummy Rummy too. Pretty addictive game, I will tell you. I would also take John into any battle on the pool table.
12) Speaking of Milwaukee people, the Milwaukee Brewers have offered fan vouchers for a “trying summer.” I assume this is about Ryan Braun, but they pretty much could have offered this voucher every year since 1982 outside of 2008 and 2011, right? So, we are basically saying they haven’t done anything since Jack & Diane was ruling the charts.
13) He is not the key link in the chain for them winning a title, but the Broncos losing Dan Koppen is not a good start. Maybe the Broncos also had white smoke coming from their hood this morning.
