Catch Of The Day

Airplane Cast and Norman Notes.

Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.

In no particular order of chronology or importance…

On the clock (short flight).  Yes, it is an airplane cast.  Sunday evening blog.  Semi-speed version.  Let’s turn and burn.

DISCLAIMER:  This blog is sarcastic and is intended as harmless fun only.  This is not a blog for sensitive readers.  Know that any seemingly derogatory or abrasive statements are NOT MEANT AT ANY LEVEL OF SERIOUSNESS.  Read on ONLY after accepting the above statements.

No hook, line, sinker, or river.  This is an airplane cast.  Thoughts as I get to them.

  1. Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  The plane in this case.    Let’s move.
  2. Warning: I am seriously testing the limits of Lunchables so thoughts and prayers to my stomach.  I have two leftover Lunchable packs that have been in my bag in a car in 90 degree weather for about 8.5 hours.  No other way to succeed at things than by pushing the limits.
  3. I will split this blog into two parts. Sports thoughts first.  Then, my experience for my second game in Norman, OK.
  4. I had plans on watching the whole second half of the FSU-UL game from our hotel room. THAT plan really worked.
  5. So did putting my larger bet of the weekend on FSU (won it back on blackjack table so no big deal).
  6. I thought Louisville was Lamar Jackson and friends. Although he FIRMLY put his two cents in on the Heisman conversation Saturday, he is just the leader of a very, very experienced and good group of players.  They are a force to be reckoned with for sure.
  7. Our plans on the second half being derailed, we watched the end of Remember the Titans instead. Damn, if that movie is not one of the top 3 sports movies ever, I don’t know what is.
  8. Lost all on Saturday, and won majority on Sunday it looks like (last one is starting here shortly).
  9. The United States already dropped their game against Europe. Come on, guys.  Lost to Sweden, Russia, Canada, or even that 23 and under team.  But, win against Europe.
  10. Zack Greinke lost again and I find such enjoyment in him doing so. He left the Dodgers for green and a losing team. Dude wants to get paid…not win it all.
  11. Tennessee and Florida are Gameday next week. My darkhorse CFP pick has always been Tennessee.  They looked STRONG against Ohio.
  12. That was sarcastic, and it is OHIO and not even Ohio State or Miami of Ohio or anything decent.
  13. Rumors of the demise of Clemson’s offense were derailed Saturday. They are just fine. Guess Deshaun wasn’t pulling our leg with those righting the ship statements.
  14. Airplane rant means unedited as I land and post. Sorry for any grammatical errors.
  15. Bama sure made it exciting, but finally (oddly) beat Ole Miss this weekend for the first time since 2013. That is just weird.
  16. In the spirit of Jimmy Fallon, THANK you, Iowa, for not going undefeated for 7 games and making us question your strength of schedule for weeks and weeks.
  17. Oh shit. I admit to starting cast at gate, and just found out that flight back is only 1 hour 10 minutes.  Going to speed round.  Tough for me to do on airplane casts (because I like to ramble more on planes to pass the time), but ONE sentence per hook.  Let’s REALLY move.
  18. Why do have two hour flights without WIFI when I need it, yet WIFI on this short hop home?
  19. Hearing the acoustic or rock version of Plush ALWAYS makes me happy, and did you know the band wrote that song in a hot tub?
  20. (not sure why it started indenting already) I also did NOT know that Big Ben’s sister went to OU.
  21. What is up with all of the DeSean Jackson’s in the recent weeks, as at least three guys have dropped the ball right before the goal line and given up the ball for their team?
  22. Cal kid did it Saturday in the game vs. Texas.
  23. Suddenly, just when there were smoke and mirrors that USC might be on the way back, they are a patsy and McCaffrey’s PERSONAL one.
  24. Speaking of those who are back at the top tier, evidently you are NOT, Notre Dame.
  25. Laugh at his imaginary girlfriend all you want, but that defense misses a guy who can steer that defense correctly.
  26. Listen, Paterno deserves tribute videos as, although he might have not passed along one important thing, he DID live his life as a great, great football coach for young guys wanting to make the next level OR just play a little college football.
  27. Holy smokes, Nebraska won a big game, and welcome back to respectability and perhaps a little FEAR??????
  28. So, I had it it as a separate line item on my blog list and don’t presently have internet, but does Lamar Jackson really have 18 TD’s in THREE games?
  29. Might have been a fantastic body shot, but Alvarez should have been fighting GGG and everyone on the face of this earth KNOWS it.
  30. I guess the only thing that sucks about being on this plane right now is that I don’t know who won the surprise Vikings QB contest.
  31. I heard TJ Miller bombed on Friday at the Paramount, and I SWEAR I have confirmed that he was indeed extremely good on Thursday and that it wasn’t the booze making his funny.
  32. It is not as much fun Instagramming when the team you went to see gets destroyed.
  33. Shame to hear RGIII will be out longer than expected, as the guy is injured during a possible last hoorah.
  34. Well, at least Bills ex-OC got in the team photo before getting the bad news of being fired, right?
  35. Another Lamar Jackson random thought is that he is about as far ahead in the Heisman race as Fournette from LSU was last year before his injury.
  36. Hope Lamar can stay healthy.
  37. In talking about our society’s lack of new ideas, in a ten minute span I watched commercials for Lethal Weapon, MacGyver, and Hawaii 5.0
  38. I don’t remember the last time I went to a Buffalo Wild Wings, but admit I might go back again just for the fact they firmly believe in putting queso or some type of wing sauce on every single food item.
  39. They also have about 113 appetizers.
  40. The secondary, young receivers, and non ability to force turnovers bothers me, but solid win for Pittsburgh today against a Cincy team still trying to face their Steelers demons.
  41. There was a really loud Texans fan at BWW and not only did I not think those people existed, but especially ones with that much passion.
  42. The Pats QB today might have been the most Googled item this weekend, but they will be fine except for if HE goes down, we are not sure how Edelman will throw it to…Edelman.
  43. Drew Brees passed Dan Marino in passing yardage…TWICE today (one yard loss on play in between).
  44. I can’t believe there is now a weekly article about who is kneeling and who is not.
  45. Louisville went deservedly all the way to three in the new AP poll…from TEN.
  46. Poor University of Washington won 41-3 against a lowly team and moved DOWN a spot.
  47. I just saw bits and pieces of the game, but sounded like Luck is still making mistakes, the Broncos defense DOES get turnovers, and Siemian is progressing nicely.
  48. Wow, a week after the Chargers lose Keenan Allen for the year, Danny Woodhead gets carted off field???
  49. And they still scored 38 points today?
  50. So the Rams get SMOKED by the 49ers, then hold the Seahawks to three points?
  51. That surely makes sense.
  52. The Cowboys are proving the rest of the team surrounding Tony Romo at the beginning of the season may be enough to win their division.
  53. Or the Redskins just stink.
  54. I have some Lions fans as friends at work, and the ending of that game just looked PAINFUL.
  55. Shame the Browns lose their shot at winning the game by a very weak taunting call.
  56. Just when we thought the Falcons were going down and the Raiders were going up, the Falcons go into Raiders territory and beat them…confused.
  57. Good to see the Arizona Cardinals look like the Arizona Cardinals this week, and probably piss off a few people who JUMPED fast and picked up Winston on the wire.
  58. Norman notes.
  59. Lindsey and I almost had a bad start to a depressing weekend, but came back on blackjack Friday night…THAT would have been a double whammy.
  60. I need to slow down on how much I say “to be honest” and “this is your show.”
  61. I probably won’t though.
  62. Lindsey’s dad’s best friend, Jenks, is one pretty freaking cool dude who lives in Norman.
  63. I guess when you are married to a Sooner girl, you need to own a shirt, and after careful evaluation and testing, I have decided the one I bought this weekend is the most comfortable shirt on the face of the earth.
  64. In Norman, you get noon work sirens that sound like tornado warnings, aren’t, but those happen suddenly too.
  65. The game got delayed because of this vicious storm that came in (and not even on weather radar), and I wondered what those poor souls did in Gaylord Memorial Stadium for two hours when they don’t serve alcohol in there.
  66. I was at Logie’s and had a 2×2 foot area of ownership I kept for two hours.
  67. I think one of the hardest things to do in life would be to stop an Oklahoma woman from age 40-60 from going to her casino.
  68. I forgot that birds in Oklahoma for some reason think Alfred Hitchcock is coming back to write another Birds movie…SO aggressive.
  69. The Campus Corner area in Norman is one of the most fun three blocks in the country.
  70. I have no idea on why Word is doing all of this inconsistent indenting for this cast.
  71. Don’t Stop Believin’ , whether played in Norman or elsewhere, is my most hated song still.
  72. My esophagus feels a little weird, and I am burping, but thus far have not died from the warm Lunchables.
  73. The cheese on one of them was just a melted block that I broke apart.
  74. Trivia question I learned Saturday night: OU is only school to have three players picked in first four picks of NFL draft…that is pretty stellar.
  75. First of all, I hate Buckeye fans a LOT less after this weekend, as they were knowledgeable, polite, and respectful…I stand corrected until at least I meet another one of THOSE fans.
  76. I get knowledge of the game and team, but I still am surprised of the overall pessimism people in Norman have towards their team…glass half full, people.
  77. Well, not THIS weekend, you WERE right, I had cockeyed enthusiasm, and that loss will sting for a long, long time.
  78. A Buckeye fan kept the football from an OSU extra point, Mixon ran it back on the next play, I said it was bad karma, and you see how THAT turned out overall.
  79. It was really cool to see the Ohio State band live though, and the tribute to Stevie Wonder was pretty damn cool.
  80. Ohio State kind of made the game like a video game playing against a defense that truly saw its own flaws.
  81. Some bad luck of course too…and some horrible play calling.
  82. The new look on the stadium looks nice though.
  83. The blowout did make our night end a little earlier though, and that was refreshing this morning.
  84. I have never seen Uber surge to 7.9…didn’t use Uber.
  85. I went back to hotel and then went on a mission in cards to get my FSU money back…which I succeeded at.
  86. I took a walk at halftime and the place seriously looked like a bunch of Crimson colored zombies…just getting some food, taking a piss, and going back to their seat to figure out if they should just beat traffic or not.
  87. They couldn’t even punt totally right.
  88. On one play, Ohio State dropped the kickoff temporarily, and STILL made it back to the 46 yard line.
  89. The Diner, I will say, was one of the best breakfasts I have EVER had, the Eggaritto is magnificent, and the home fries might be the best ones in the country.
  90. I had never been to a Chewy’s, but for a chain in the south, the Mexican food was pretty stellar (well, looked stellar as I had a huge lunch also and just had chips and queso-I am quoting others on this hook).
  91. We oddly went to an Olive Garden, and glad to know that in the 12 years I haven’t been there…it hasn’t changed one single bit.
  92. Steve’s buddy, Jenks, has two sheds in his backyard, he watches football there, they are air conditioned, and along with my Boerboel and a yard, I would also like a shed.
  93. Some pics:
  94. The people I hung with during the two hour delay.  Crystal, Randy, Linds, and Steve.  the-delay-friends-blog
  95. Where you go the day after the game, even if it is a massacre.  the-diner-norman-blog
  96. Gaylord Memorial right before the storm that swept in.gaylord-stadium-blog
  97. Walk of Champions-pretty cool stuff where the team walks through everyone into the stadium.  walk-of-champions-blog
  98. MY favorite OU player.  simms-blog
  99. Where I spent the two hour delay…before everyone got really sad.  logies-blog
  100. Where the party merges into the stadium area.  Boyd and Asp.  Look at the freaking clouds behind Linds.  RIGHT before storm.  asp-boyd-blog
  101. During the two hour delay.  two-hour-delay-logies-girls-blog
  102. I mean, if this didn’t indicate to OU that a storm was coming, I don’t know what did.  boomer-sign-storm-blog
  103. Linds and her dad…obviously once again BEFORE the game when happiness was galore.  linds-dad-blog
  104. Asp.  Where it all happens pregame.  asp-blog
  105. On the way IN the game obviously.  linds-fountains-blog
  106. Fireworks BEFORE the game.  norman-stadium-firewoks-blog
  107. UVA could never organize stripes for a game.  norman-stripes-blog
  108. This would be right before halftime.  linds-sad-blog
  109. Guy on right is that cool best friend of Steve’s…also named Steve.  jenks-blog
  110. Catching up from Thursday.  Lindsey at Cool River.  linds-blog-cool-river
  111. Also important from Thursday, the mac and cheese from Cool River.  cool-river-mac-and-cheese-blog
  112. I am told this is funny for two reasons.  Still Thursday.  I took this because my joke was that TJ Miller was waiting in his own show line.  My band buddy said it is funny because the two guys staring at the camera are used to having their photo taken because they are from the band Motet.  Who knew?  tj-miller-motet-blog
  113. You would think Ohio State would have known that Lindsey and Mark parking in L/M at airport would be a GOOD sign.  norman-trip-l-and-m-dia-blog
  114. No more games on the slate for Norman, as the Big 12 pretty much eliminated itself from CFP and Texas and OU are now BOTH just playing for pride.  I will miss this street though.  Where the rubber hits the road.  asp-blog
  115. Jackson the cat is on his last night of being boarded, I pick him up tomorrow, he has neighbors literally through a wire fence, and I am interested to see him after he finally comes to the realization that he is not the only cat on this earth and therefore automatically the king of the castle.
