Catch Of The Day

Airplane Cast.

airplane

Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.

In no particular order of chronology or importance…

On the clock.  Yes, it is an airplane cast.  Wednesday afternoon blog way above earth.  Semi-speed version.  Let’s turn and burn.

  1. Greetings and salutations, people. Thanks for coming aboard (the boat).  The plane.    Up in the air.  Blind to the internet and only have my trusty USA Today and Sports Weekly.  Let’s move.
  2. Thanks, dumb A people on Southwest. How I pulled B2 on the Early Bird made me frustrated enough, but you all not taking the last window exit row MADE my day.
  3. I think it might be because this plane goes to Vegas after Spokane, so probably a good amount of people traveling together…I will take it either way.
  4. They got beat by a VERY good Brazil team, and she does have a new partner this Olympics (and is 38 herself), but still didn’t see Kerri Walsh Jennings playing for a bronze this year. I thought she would pull a Phelps/ Bolt.  FIVE Olympics is still pretty stellar.
  5. It is bad enough that the Bills are getting hammered with injuries, but a whole other animal when a young player like Marcell Dareus gets a four game suspension because of weed use. The Bills need ANYTHING but a slow start to have a shot at the playoffs and can’t have guys putting their feel goodness before the team in this crucial time of year.
  6. There is a fly on this plane. I forget how long their lifespan is, but his mind is totally going to be blown when we land.
  7. Jerry Jones and Paul Tagliabue are HOF finalists for a possible induction next year. Tagliabue was sort of passive in comparison to Goodell, but still did a good job an made the sport even more mainstream.  Not sure if he was also overpaid back then.  People don’t think Jones deserves it, but that is because we don’t like him much.  He still started many snowballs of change in the NFL…and has three Super Bowls of course.
  8. I would rather have Jerry out also of course, but it is what it is.
  9. This Ryan Lochte thing was getting crazy just when I got on the plane today. First, he explains why there was a delayed report (I assume he was drunk and they were getting their stories together) and now the judge in Brazil wanted their passports (they had already left evidently)?  I want to hear more.  Got a feeling Lochte has something going on besides what he has come forward with.
  10. I don’t remember her name, but WHOEVER beat Simone Biles in the balance beam better wear that thing like a badge for the rest of her life. Tell her friends constant stories.  Biles rolled in the other four events with that as the only “blemish.”
  11. Flight attendant just took my drink order and I am on Southwest, meaning they will be bringing the salty snacks any second so I can count the minutes until I get my Coke Zero.
  12. Still justmarkfiller here.
  13. That was such a fun day.
  14. I don’t think poker will happen this weekend for lack of responses, meaning I have a feeling there is a lot of Golden Tee in my future that night. And a cleaner house on Sunday morning.
  15. Got a new system of cleaning one irritating thing around the house every 2-3 days. Twenty minutes of my life with a house that slowly gets cleaner.
  16. It feels a little weird to hear that Jamal Charles is…healthy.
  17. Don’t be a sucker and put him on your fantasy football team.
  18. This is an airplane rant, R u d y / M a r t y (that beats control f, right?)-no prizes.
  19. And no drinking at my house Saturday, so let’s just go out somewhere.
  20. One week until on the grounds of UVA.   No Lockn’ Festival.  Tickets at $129 DAILY is ridiculous to see a bunch of bands I pretty much have all seen.
  21. Yes, we say “grounds” and not campus.
  22. I want to knock on the fraternity house door, but Sigma Pi is different now. We barely paid rent, didn’t wear our letters on grounds, and never volunteered for anything.  We just drank.  These guys?  They have been UVA fraternity of the year…way too many times in a ten year span.
  23. Papelbon has said he will make his decision of which team in the next 24 hours. I guess if we were talking about his closing ability about 5 years ago, this would be interesting to me.  But it is not, and he is not.
  24. The state of Louisiana had NO wind the other day.   None.  Why?  It was the day of Leonard Fournette’s mild ankle sprain and any mention of him “walking in a boot.”  Held their breath for the entire day.
  25. Probably so did the rest of the Heisman contenders…holding their breath for different reasons. Maybe they would have a SHOT.
  26. I shut down the internet last night and enjoyed some more Olympics. SOOOOO brutal that USA’s Byron Robinson lost out on the 400m finals by .01.    He will have a great year at Texas.
  27. Devon Allen got fifth in the 100m hurdles, now he goes back to playing football at Oregon, and GREAT showing by the kid.
  28. I needed MORE high jump footage last night. Loved what I saw.  And I wanted more long jump footage too.  Come on.
  29. If you think NBC is already throwing enough random sports our direction on television, you should check out the FULL results for Olympic sports daily…there is some crazy stuff out there going on.
  30. No matter what I am watching, and whether I care or not, once they give the short backstories on each contender before the race, I feel invested, have sudden favorites, and will try and catch the next one with my new favorite athlete.
  31. And I will tell their story to people at the water cooler like I have been following them all along.
  32. And they will answer at the water cooler like they knew all along. Funny how that works.
  33. I had a funny grumpy cat video where the cat is happy and still looks mad as hell and a funny dog underneath a coffee table trying to eat fries video, but Lindsey never sent them to me. Find them on your own.  I assume you can start your search on that thing called Facebook.
  34. I heard Bruce Arians was hospitalized. Hope he is OK, and their window is NOW, so hopefully he can drive that boat the whole year with no medical problems.
  35. Seriously, it is on all the time when Lindsey has the TV, and I am not NOT knowing what is going on in a show around me. Therefore, not proud, it is what it is, but I know all the characters and plot of Orange is the New Black.  If you can’t beat them, guess you have to join them.  I can fight off Snapped plots when on my computer in front of TV, but this thing just keeps going, so gotta know what is going on.
  36. Media, please stop talking about Bruce/ Caitlyn. I know he was great, you know he was great, we will have more Olympics to celebrate him, and I need a break for now.
  37. I don’t know if you watched men’s gymnastics last night, but Danell Leyva had the performance of his life. Two individual silvers by a guy on the USA men’s gymnastics team in ANYTHING is great.
  38. I watched Usain Bolt too in his 200 prelims. He was MADE for that race with his long stride and the longer distance.  He cruised.  Got a feeling we will be seeing a sub 19 run, folks.
  39. Yes, it was a USA Today article with pictures, but still pretty interesting article today about WHAT is a shutdown corner. What they never touched on enough is that I think there is a “shutdown” corner and an “island” corner depending on what defense the team plays.  But, probably more back in the day that a corner wouldn’t shadow ONE receiver.  Game has changed.  Hell, Deion Sanders sometimes would skip the huddle and just hang on the right side.
  40. IT was nice reading a non-biased Broncos article also.
  41. Let’s check in on preseason NFL standings. Ok, we have at 1-0…just kidding.  I jest.
  42. Anyone notice that since the Yankees became “sellers” they are 7-3 in their last 10? Sucks though IN that youth movement they lost pitcher Nathan Eovaldi until 2018.  Yes, I said 2018.    Kid was having a good year.
  43. We were all about to put the Royals to bed for the season a couple weeks ago, and they just went 8-2 in their last 10.
  44. THAT is not as good as my perennial underachieving playoff prediction Mariners…who went 9-1 in the same span.
  45. The Phils are 56-64, and considering their talent, I consider that a 162-0 season. I thought they would be MUCH worse.  They have lots of young talent, and love this kid Will Hipp progressing through their minor leagues.  6’7” right hander.
  46. Still, and not even a flash in the pan early in the season. Boston has the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th leading hitters in the AL in average.  Amazing that they could do this with bats.  Kind of like a new age version of the late 90’s Rockies.
  47. The Rockies also inhabit a lot of the NL offensive categories, but we know how that is presently going.
  48. Does everyone remember when people were worried about Daniel Murphy just being a postseason hero who couldn’t maintain? Well, at his new 2016 home of the Nationals, he leads the league with a .347 average.
  49. That was a HELL of a comeback by that USA chick to be the first USA woman to ever place in the 1500. Nice race.
  50. The article that hit my phone RIGHT before I turned it off was something about IOC and hospital and accusations and scalping. Not sure how it fits together, but that sounds about right (no, I don’t edit this before releasing when I get to the hotel room-that is why it is an AIRPLANE rant).
  51. So, was Olympic spirit D’Agostino actual injury that is keeping her out of the finals of the 5000 BECAUSE she tripped over the chick? Not that it matters, but another story I saw right before airplane mode time and was curious.
  52. DeAndre Jordan came out in the last day to tell us all that Olympic rings are more important than NBA rings. Ok, man.  Take a deep breath and a step back.  Winning the Olympics is cool and all.  I get it.  But, how about you WIN a ring at the NBA level AND win in Rio this year and THEN tell us about it.  Right now, I am simply listening to a player who is ringless chirping about how the better odds tourney he is in right now is better.  Step away from the mic.
  53. Wish my trip logistics allowed me to watch the USA-Argentina game. It does not.
  54. Charles Barkley says the USA team is playing too much isolation. I haven’t caught enough of the games to chime in fully, but…Chuck…they have Melo on their team.  It probably just trickles down from there.  Looking forward to catching the last elimination games.
  55. So, now Conor McGregor and Ronaldo are boys? Don’t spar with him, Conor.  Girls would cry across the world if you hit him.
  56. TSA Precheck is FANTASTIC. Just simply FANTASTIC.
  57. Fancy.  Get it.
  58. If you are in C gates at DIA, and haven’t found that quiet upper level where you can have peace, quiet, and outlets, then you are missing out. The only thing that is missing is an opposite to put your foot on, but I just use my suitcase.
  59. Right before boarding, realized that people probably weren’t looking at my new bandages from my Alpine Slide mini crash. My fly was down the entire trip through the airport.
  60. That’s it for today. Hope you enjoyed or are at least more informed.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.
  61. I WILL blog tomorrow to some degree (will have to work on plane too)…on a plane BACK to Denver.
