…a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

Read it, don’t read it, I don’t care…just needed to get some things off my chest.

In no particular order of chronology or importance…

On the clock.  Day rant.  Let’s turn and burn.

1)       The Spurs “responded” to Miami’s beatdown in Game 2 by providing one of their own.  I don’t remember the last time I enjoyed a blowout as much as I did last night.  We are right on pace, people.  I said Spurs in six.  San Antonio wins the next one, Miami gets one at home, and then the Spurs win the whole thing in front of the Miami fans.

2)      Who’d have thunk?  Gary Neal was the key for the Spurs in the first half, and Mike Miller was the only reason it was even close at halftime.  Odd key players.

3)      I was most excited to see the halftime adjustments.  Both teams had two days to adjust from the Game 2 drubbing, while they only had 20 minutes to REACT to those adjustments for the second half plan.  The energy the Spurs came out with in the second half to me was best exemplified during the Duncan block, Duncan save, Leonard save, Green score full court play.  Awesome hustle.

4)      Finally, I thought the oddest thing about the game was at the end.  It was the atmosphere of the end of the bench walk-on, with the crowd all cheering for him to shoot when he got the ball.  Except in this case, it was Tracy McGrady, arguably the greatest high school recruit ever (throw in Lebron and Garnett of course) who had a Hall of Fame career hampered by injuries.  Anyway, it is his first ever Finals, and he got a little playing time.  It was adorable.

5)      Thoughts and prayers to people just south of me in the Springs.  Here is hoping they reel in those fires quicker as opposed to slower.

6)      The world’s oldest person died at the age of 116.  Odd that the previous record holder died a couple days before.  So, they held the title for the amount of time it took Guiness to figure out the new title holder.  Note to the 115 year old Japanese youngster who NOW has the title.  Things happen in three’s.

7)      The New York Jets ALL need to stay away from microphones.  EVERYONE.  I am over it.  They brought it out to the media that they are mulling over putting a read-option package for Geno Smith.  Great.  Just like you had all of those crazy packages we never saw with Tebow last year?  Why don’t you all get good FIRST, and THEN tease us with crazy ideas.

8)      Terrell Owens still wants to play football and says he is changed from his past reputation.  I am sure you are, T.O.  Until the first QB overthrows you, or some writer says something mean about you.  Dude…just fade away.  You will ALWAYS have a spot on the Rant Squad.  ALWAYS.  You are like Diego Maradona.  Lifetime membership.  Think of the negative spin of Coach K and Duke.

9)      Shaq says that Snowball may be too nice.  What is all of this “he is too nice” stuff going on these days?  First, Chauncey, and now Shaq.  I don’t mind you saying this, Shaq, as you have teed Snowball up to say SOMETHING stupid.  To quote the trainer in Rocky IV, “Snowball, you know what you have to do.  Now do it.  DO it.”

10)    Where were Ritz Crackerfuls when I was a kid?

11)   I am proud of ESPN for literally mentioning Tim Tebow 137 times in 120 minutes.  I would also like to thank always fast Deadspin for picking up on it.  http://deadspin.com/espn-mentioned-tim-tebow-137-times-in-120-minutes-512618294

12)   I am watching this cat.  Wylan.  I don’t know what to think of the ritual before I leave the apartment.  I feed him, get him water, clean out the litter box, and play with him.  Then, I try to leave.  Should I feel good that the cat loves me so mad that it literally hugs my ankles as I walk towards the door, or am I mad that my calves keep getting scratched and bitten?

13)   Raging Bull was on the other channel after the game.  I haven’t seen that classic flick in a long time.  Time to revisit in the next few weeks.  Fantastic flick if you have never seen it.  Relatively early DeNiro (considering he is still going anyway).

14)   The US soccer team beat Panama in a real match…WC Qualifying.  So, they beat a team at home that they should beat to go to a tournament from a region that would be embarrassing if we didn’t make it.  Anyway, I can’t believe at one time Jozy Altidore was not ON the national team, and I have to say that these two goals look pretty darn good…like we actually know what we are doing.  http://www.ibtimes.com/video-usa-2-0-panama-highlights-dominant-us-goes-top-hexagonal-jozy-altidore-maintains-scoring

15)   Stop raining in the Philly area.  I don’t want a drying track for the Open.  I don’t want low scores at this thing.  I want people to suffer.  Of course, I suppose if they get too much more rain, it WILL be hard.

16)   My colleague, Bob, stumbled on BACON jerky at Costco.  He gave me a couple pieces.  It was delicious.  At some point in life, I hope to eat an entire day of bacon or bacon flavored things.

17)   The Colts sign RB Ahmad Bradshaw.  I like the pickup.  A guy who has been there/ done that (twice) teaming up with a talented QB who has the goods to eventually been there/ done that.

18)   Why did Phil Mickelson get ANY press for missing a US Open practice for his 8th grade daughter’s graduation?  He is not my favorite golfer by far, but missing a practice?  Come on.  It was a PRACTICE, Torii Hunter, so don’t YOU start chiming in.  And since I mentioned “practice,” this NEVER gets old.  Ever.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI

19)   With more Rant Squad news, Chad Johnson’s lawyer wants the 30 days reduced, and promises a simple high five this time from Chad.

20)   Finally, tonight they drop the puck for Game 1.  Judging by the formality  and simply showing the exit last series both these teams had, this is going to be one hell of a series played at a frenetic pace.  I don’t know who wins Game 1, I will guess Chicago, and think this is going 7 games WHOEVER wins this game.  Seriously, by the way the last series went, this is crossing the streams in Ghostbusters.  This is Kitt ramming into Karr.  (Yay, there is my non sports theme.  I was about to put a picture of bacon up or Raging Bull.  Kitt is MUCH more exciting.)

21)   That is it.  Hope you enjoyed and thanks for reading.  Will I blog tomorrow?  That is a CLOWN question, bro.  Peace.
